Good for you but I don’t see Zorba asking… “How do I get rid of Explorer?”

Best solution: Get a Mac and keep away from evil microsoft products.

Weeell, I downloade a adware/malware program which found loads of dodgy files, which was good but did not solve problem.
Then I tried a system restore, tried different dates and after the computer restarted every time was told that it could not restore to those dates, even as far back as April ,which was its limit.
So, I uninstalled AVG. Didn't solve problem.
Uninstalled Firefox. Didn't solve problem.
I defragmented and performed a Disk clean up. Still the problem.
The next day I was going to uninstall Internet Explorer but decided first to connect another computer because I needed to go to some websites.
F*ck me, same problem !
So, after a bit of flaffing around,I switched off the router for 15 seconds and switched back on and would you believe it, no problems.
Tonight I connected my computer back on and IT WORKS !
So,er,thanks to the experts for their advice.
At least my computer starts and switches off faster now

AVG is meant to be a virus scanner and a rubbish one at that. Viruses and adware/malware are two different things.

Use this for malware...

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

I 2nd that
Malwarebytes basically saved my PC
What a great little atom bomb of a program.

Nobody said "Get a adware/malware program!"

What we DID say was get Malwarebytes!

Huge difference, as some "adware/malware programs" out there are viruses themselves!

Sorry I should have been more specific. I downloaded Malwarebytes etc etc etc I couldn't remember the actual name at the time. Thanks again for that one :)

Because when I went to open it, it refused and all I got was Programme not responding and froze and I spent ages getting error messages and closing them. That was on my desktop XP and I still had No. 7. When I did try to open No. 7, that refused to show and the message about having a newer version (8) kept appearing. I read that to remove either programme you had to remove SP3. I did that and thought to get rid of either or both 7 and 8 and re-install one of the versions again. So after all that, I thought: if it ain't broke, don't do anything. I did download the Malwarebytes and two hours later got rid of the infected files (I hope).

:? I am not sure about this, but did you suppose that IE8 infected your computer with malware? :?

BTW Malwarebytes is an excellent antimalware program. I posted its link on CF some months back. 8)
