I'm Cypriot

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Why not Oracle? 1/3 speaks it..

TCs are nearly down to single figures. The Island is too small to cater for just a few thousand people in terms of Official paperwork, especially since English is going to be the working language; that should suffice for non-Greek speakers.

Turkish will of course be taught in schools and used freely; it just does not need to be a second Official language. In particular, now that it is so strongly associated/reinforced as the language of the invaders ... (present company excluded, of course  ).

That is bull crap, in Australia you can take the driving test in 25 different languages, even though English is the official language. Turkish has been an official language of the RoC since it's establishment. A BBF soln. means Turkish would have to stay an official language.

That's right Umit ... Cyprus can cater for a multitude of languages, just like Australia. So the TCs are no different to all the other minorities ... (apart from affiliating with the enemy occupiers) .... So we only need ONE official language too! Just like Australia ... nice example; good boy! :D

Newer TC ID's have nothing about nationality stated on them.

A time and place for everything ....

But what if I wanted to fly the Star and Crescent from my home – to show my national allegiance to an empire long past - that once ruled Cyprus?

Surely you wouldn't object. After all, the church flies this symbol of an empire long past to show allegiance. Do you find this objectionable to?

My dear ... that does not represent a country; the allegiance is to the historical tradition of the church.

Whereas that star and crescent of Halil's has a sinister political motive (one which is trying to enter the political arena by illegal means!) .... much like the downfall of the Nazi (peace) symbol.

You can fly the skull and cross-bones too .... but semiotics would decree it serves no purpose on land! You can't take the semantics out of semiotics

I'm just amazed Melbourne hasn't been renamed "Melburgazincan" and Australia hasn't been renamed "Afyonkarahisalanya"

That's fine ... the whole set-up is illegal and will all be dismantled in due course.
