I don't think there is any place that is as clean as Switzerland.
I have a lifelong friend in the UK who once described Switzerland to me before I moved here, which he said that "Switzerland looks as if it has just come out of the washing machine.".!

I have relatives living out in Switzerland. Sounds as though I need to visit them! :)

They do plenty dusting there obviously. Will you offer to help?

No need for dusting Deniz, because it rains on demand here. Actually, it rains whether you demand it or not.!

It came down in "buckets" today.! I think that's what my friend meant, that the place looks like it just came out of a washing machine.! The whole country is beautifully green all year round, but more so right now, due to all the rain we are getting. Corn fields are already over 2 meters high. It feels like driving through a maze on country roads. No pun intended.!

Well, OK, at least until next 4th of July in 2010.!

I knew I was going to get a reaction from GR, although he had the good sense to remove the original post!

Let me say in all honesty, that I do not believe in a GOD, but ALL nations should be blessed by GOD, because in every nation there are far more good people than bad people, and by a nation being blessed by GOD, I'm always hopeful that it will turn bad people in becoming good people, which is good for the world..

America is a wonderful country and very beautiful at that and it's people are very friendly despite being a "violent society". Our government's actions abroad is not always supported by the people and like all countries, from time to time we elect idiots to lead us, and they do, lead us to be hated by the world, just as what George W. Bush did with ALL his cronies. Thank GOD for our strong Democracy where we are able to vote these morally corrupted people out of office before they can do more damage. America has made some bad foreign policies in the past and presently and I’m one of many Americans who accuses our government in their wrong doings, but they have also done many good things around the world in the past, presently and will do more in the future, much more than any other nation in the world. You cannot love your country in pieces. It is all or nothing. You must take the good with the bad, in the hopes that you can turn the bad into good. American people are the ones who hold the country's power in their hands, and when we see that our leaders or any other elected persons are not serving us, we get rid of them as soon as we can. Democratically, of course.! So I say, GOD bless America and GOD bless all other nations also.!

I never saw corn fields in Schweiz, so you must be describing the USof A. :? I thought the 'washing machine' metaphore meant 'sparkling clean'.

"Toto, I Don't Think We're in Kansas Anymore!"

I should have said "Corn in the fields" are already over 2 meters high. I actually did see my mistake before I posted it, but I figured it will go unnoticed by everyone, but Noooooooooooooooo, you spotted it.!

I thought Alpeis was the only "In-house Intellectual" around here, but I guess I was wrong.!

Kikapu darling, instead of responding like an intimidated apologist, a more effective response to GR would be, "Fuck off episns" ("epnsis" = "likewise"). This he'll understand ... and if you precede it with "parakalo" (please) you will be polite about it.

... And by the way, despite GWB, the good ole US of A still stands strong.

G'day mate,

I hope you had an excellent 4th of July.

I have to agree with you about America being a good country. Also, I must say the Americans are one of the most friendly, down to earth, and generous people in the world.

The country has made some very bad mistakes, particularly whilst George W Bush was in office. So a very big thank you for voting The Republicans out, because they were the biggest disaster.

I dream of the day when America plays a bigger role in Cyprus, but this time fighting to gain a fair justice for all Cypriots by somehow correcting the mistakes of the past....Please tell Obama that Cyprus needs his help for a fair and just solution. I believe he has a big heart and understands that Cypriots are in desperate need of this justice. And as a principled man I think he is, he will immediately know what needs to be done!

I'll send him a letter/email, Paphitis, asking him to do just that and more. If I get a reply, I will let you know.!

Yes dear, Filitsa. What ever you say, dear.!

I was not being an "intimidated apologist", because GR had already removed his original post, which tells me that he had regrets/second thoughts about it. I only got his post through "second hand" from Miltiades's respond to GR's original post. GR was already in remorse by this time, I'm sure of it, so what's the use kicking the man when he was already down.!
