NEW INVESTMENTS WERE MADE IN THE VILLAGE OF AKINCILAR
The 7km long second stage of the Akincilar main road, the Akincilar Artificial-turf Football Field and the Akincilar Municipality Building and Wedding Hall which were completed with the support of the Turkish Embassy were inaugurated at a special ceremony yesterday.
The first speech at the ceremony was delivered by the Mayor of Akincilar(Lurucina)
Hasan Barbaros who said that many residents migrated from the village and that efforts are now being made to stop this migration.
He also called on the State to show more interest in problems of the village.
The Minister of Public Works and Communications Hasan Tacoy, for his part, said that an important problem of the village has been solved with the new road built.
Mr Tacoy added that his Ministry will continue works aimed at improving the highway network in the Republic.
In his speech, the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkosa Sakir Fakili said that the bid for the building of the road was opened in Turkey to save money, but added that the winning firm constructed the road by using local manpower and goods.
The Ambassador said that a 50-million Turkish Liras bid for the building of other roads will be opened in the TRNC, a move, which he said would help revive the economy.
President Mehmet Ali Talat – who was also present at the opening ceremony, said that the newly built road is an important investment for the village.
He stressed that it is the responsibility of the state to bring services to the Akincilar Village(Lurucina), which he said, is in a quiet and secluded corner of the country.
