I want to build a car port but don't have my title deeds.

I want to build a wooden car port but don't have my title deeds, I keep being told different things, ie it's ok if you don't attach it to the house, or, you cannot tile the roof. Has anyone erected a car port and subsequently got their title deeds ( or not got their title deeds). Any help would be appreciated.

I am sure it goes with covered area available, check your contract, don't build it before being sure it is legal as there is a chance they can make you take it down.

Its better to wait untill you have the tittle deeds beacuse if you are in breach of the terms of your building permission you will never obtain the final approval certification which is necessary for the execution of the deed..

You don’t have to report carports or sheds that are… err, what’s the right word? Non-permanent? Non-fixed? Collapsible? :?

In Greek they call it “Liomeno” and its ok to errect.

"liomeno" still needs permission from the authorities..every construction etc that is steady and directly connected either with the land or the premisses is considered to be a building..camper or caravan (if its on wheels and not steady on earth) only does not need any permissions

Most of us in the villages around where we live erect structures that can be dismantled and put back after the inspection from the Land Registry bods has taken place. As no-one is in a hurry to start paying tax, the years pass and we'll all probably be dead and buried before the inspections take place.

Regards,

Annaka.

Thanks, will probally go with the last one, it will be worth a day taking it down to avoid any hassle, and in the meantime my car and motorbike will be saved from the sun.

This may sound like a stupid idea, but here goes anyway.

Doratis1980 wrote above, "camper or caravan (if its on wheels and not steady on earth) only does not need any permissions", therefore, build your shed structure on wheels and fasten it to the ground with ropes and spikes, like a tent. It's most certainly not a "immovable structure" since it can be moved, even for few inches.!
