Why do GC's want to unite?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

What was the aim of the coup exercised by Greece just before the invasion? To bring peace to Cypriots? or to put their designs into effect?

Greece paved the way for Turkish intervention (according to Turkey) or in other words Turkish invasion (according to the rest). I really wonder if Turkey didn't intervened what would EU call it, Greek invasion or Greek intervention...

ofcourse they to blame...it was a joint effort by all 3 guarantor powers...

end of the day the coup was losing ground....all 3 thought it would have been smooth sailing....but they discounted the resistance by the cypriots..

end of the day all 3 guarantor powers didn't live up to their signed expectations...assholes...

ask your self what was the point of having guarantors...amd here you will find the answer to the problem...

If Turkey hadn't "intervened" [sic], the Cypriots would have gotten rid of the coupists ... and become stronger in the process.

Feels good keep doing it..we will be around forever as our numbers increase 500.000 now 1.000.000 in 20 years time all this fucking and in 30 years time we will be fucking you....

so why do you need gaurantees?

The first to act as a deterrant so that GCs do not use their majority advantage negatively to the detrement of TCs and secondly to ensure the GCs do not start a civil war as we experienced before. If they have no intention to go in this direction then why the hell do they object they have nothing to fear as long as they behave obviously they have other hidden agendas that makes guarantees all that more important for us.

what numerical advantage? Above you quote that you are 500,000 now and soon will be 2,000,000.

So I'll ask again, why do you need gaurantees?

The aim of the US inspired Coup was to rid Cyprus of the "Red Priest", whom they perceived to be getting a little too friendly with the Soviet Union and other non aligned countries.

There was absolutely no desire for ENOSIS from the Coupist, and this is supported by the fact that when President Makarios was removed from power, they appointed another "President" known as Nicos Sampson. They chose to not dissolve the RoC.

The Greek and CNG coupists, were fooled by American guarantees that Turkey would not intervene.

This analysis is a little simplistic. The 'Red Priest' tag was one attached to Makarios in the 60s at around the time of the Cuban missile crisis when the US was gripped with paranoia. By the 70s the US had warmed to Makarios, he having given the US permission to use Britain's sovereign basis on the island. He'd also convinced them of his non-communist credentials. He was a Christian spiritual leader, for goodness sake!

It was a monumental f*%k up by America but don't try and play down the Greek junta's role in the debacle because it is they who ordered the coup, misdirected it seems, in part, by individual Greek Americans in or connected to the US administration, with expansionist Hellenic dreams.

The US was in the middle of the Watergate scandal and in chaos. Kissinger was formulating US foreign policy on the hoof. The only objective, after the shit hit the fan, was to prevent a full-scale war between two NATO allies.

According to recently released, declassified American government documents there is no evidence of a coordinated US plot to remove Makarios, as exists with other such plots to remove leaders in Latin America. See here:

No one is playing down the junta's role. However, we shouldn't confuse that role with any participation by a free and Democratic Greece, such as we, fortunately, have now to support us in removing the Turks.

Of course the analysis is a little simplistic. No one is trying to excuse the Greek Junta or the traitorous involvement of many Cypriots.

But to blame a whole country that was in the grips of the US inspired Junta is the most ludicrous thing of all....

It appears you need to ask Henry Kissinger as to WHO indeed ordered the coup and then come back and we can discuss.

Have a read of Henry Kissinger's memoirs. There is a whole chapter about this.

It was a monumental f*%k up by America

On the contrary.

By fooling the Greek Juntist Officers (its pawns), America achieved all its objectives by partitioning the island and ensuring that Cyprus can never fully align itself with the Soviet Union whilst the Cold War was at its peak.

In full agreement . The spark came directly from Greece. There is no denying the fact that the Junta despised Makarios and considered his demands for the removal of Greek officers as unacceptable. Makarios was not a diplomat but a leader . His response to the Greek Junta " I have outlived previous Greek governments and I shall outlive you too"
was not helpful at the time in defusing an already hyped up situation as far as the removal of Greek officers was concerned.
Turkey invaded as a direct result of the GREEK orchestrated coup .
Once Turkey invaded the Junta went into hiding , no "political" access to "government" officials was possible. Foreign diplomats were unable to establish contact with the ruling Junta , it was an absolute disgrace as a result of which our island was partly occupied by Turkey and Greece liberated from the Bastards .
