It was that statement which I took as your fingerprint. A fine sentiment attached to, I'm afraid, not so fine a list of demands ....

My dear The Cypriot (can you drop the "The" ... it does my head in!) it is a well known fact that should you present someone with a list of demands, they will pick from them the immediately do-able (which are probably improving TC living conditions) and feel justified to leave the rest (i.e. tackling removing the Turkish Army).

So, as I said, cleverly produced to appeal to as many signatories as possible, with the most likely outcome being, some MP fighting the cause of the 'struggling' TCs who have to do some MS or to the others who complain the GCs properties are sold at a "low price".

We all pick and choose what we like from a list; so will whoever this is aimed at, for finding a resolution. If it's the Brits, then why remind them of what they stand to lose by a whole Cyprus, governed solely by the RoC?

* Male Turkish Cypriots abroad can't stay longer than a month in the north because of the compulsory military service even if they're 50 years old.

Why should I care about Male TCs from abroad and their demands for a stress free extended holiday in the north? Why?

If they really want the Turkish troops out ... just ask for that! ... then this little "lifestyle" improvement will happen automatically.

There is so much on that list that is (at least semantically) wrong; how can you remain so cool and detached?

Do not worry about Male TCs from abroad. Coming out of Ercan, is not a problem for the over 50's.

A solution for CY by Cys

Now, I'm unaware as to who the organisers are and their motives, but I can't at present see your interpretation in this petition.

There's only ONE demand. That Turkey's army goes.

The rest is a list of gripes, to ensure, I would imagine, as many TC names as possible appear on the list.

(My real friends just address me as "Cypriot" and drop any clumsy prefix).
