Syrian Kurd Problem or not?

Postby frogeye » Thu Jul 02, 2009 1:07 pm

Hi All

My first post

Since coming back to the Island my first impressions are to many asylum seekers especially Syrian Kurds and Arabs who all seem to be driving around in uninsured dangerous cars and begging for work using the old tapping on the door ploy of give me some work so I can feed my family back home. In these times of economic hardship they are also taking the work from the legitimate tradesmen in Cyprus by working for seriously low wages and seem to get all the work off the British Ex-pat community (in my opinion) and the Police seem to turn a blind eye to this problem, is it only me that can see this happening or are there others who do not want to bring this subject to a head for fear of retribution by other members.

Where are you? On the North coast or the South coast?

Well , i was reading a statement recently suggesting that Europe's pupulation became old and this will soon create a serious problem in pension system. The longer life of people in Europe, after they retire and the slower births will create a huge problem on how governments will suceed to continue pension allowances to all these retired people.

the statement was suggesting that governments support the increase of births by issuing extra bonuses and extra holidays to new mothers.

I wonder why countries like Greece / Cyprus / Malta / Spain ,which have serious stowaways problems are not trying to find ways to create jobs (agriculture or others) for all these people coming as refugees and enter them in the official pension organizations as new supporters (by paying income tax/insurance etc) and therefore soft this problem.

of course an investigation for each stowaway must be done by immigration avoiding criminals but personally i believe that the most of these people are just asking a better life and security.

Example why Cyprus has to import all these Philippinos for house assistance and do not give some chances to these refugees (after a short education program)?

If that were the case in ANY European Country the next day there would be thousands more entering the country illegally.

When applying for asylum the following three rules must be followed or they may face being deported back.

1. Evidence of true identity and all information given to the authorities before they are granted asylum. (rulling out terrorist, criminals etc.)

2. The goverment must be aware at all time of movement on the island, change of address ect.

3. They must comply with all RoC laws, breaking any and again, face being sent back.

These persons are given a temporary stay on the island with housing, money and free medication & education, even temporary travelling documents. (You will be suprised how much money benefits these people recieve)

Yes I do understand the better life they want, however how would you feel if you as a lawful tax payer did not have money to feed your family because of cheap ILLEGAL labour.

I have nothing against these people. A male Syrian guy gave a quote for a paint job to a friend... He turned up in a brand new Golf GTI. He had been on the island 3 years and still receives goverment benefit!!!

Now I mentioned that they get temporary travelling documents, some of these people went to othe EU countries and claimed asylum, receiving benefits from 2 or more countries.

That is why finger prints are obtained and sent to EuroPol to exclude this deception.
