A 'very Cypriot' meeting...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Hmm... the riddle of bananiot's identity continues... he's obviously famous... eats a lot of bananas...

Papadopoulos on the possibility of a new round of talks: Title: Lets say a new round of talks begins. So what?

"When the Turk becomes an equal partner in the south your personal happiness will be lost as well as your aspirations and visions for the future. (written in 1989).

Notice the use of the phrase "the Turk" when it should be "the Turks". This phraseology is used by the most reactionary, chauvinistic and nationalist elements in the GC society. When members of AKEL confronted Christofias in disbelief for his choice of candidate prior to the presidential elections in 2003, he answered rather angrily "the man has changed". Now, it is widely believed that if someone has changed this person is Christofias.

To all the TCs,
Hey you TCs, do you hear what Bananiot is saying? Papadopoullos called you in the past as “The Turk.” Do you know what that means? The man is a chauvinist! He doesn’t want a solution! Do not trust what he says! He is a liar! He is not serious for negotiations! Never accept him as the negotiator on behalf of the GCs! He is sneaky and devious! Tell Talat not to come to the negotiating table, as long as Papadopoullos is the leader of the GCs. Tell Talat to demand from the UN and the Americans to replace him -otherwise the negotiations will never start. Tell the UN to replace him with Bananiot! He is the only one that can give you all you want during the negotiations.

The devil's advocate strikes again! Well, for those that understand greek here are the actual words of Papadopoulos.

"Όταν ο Τούρκος αποκατασταθεί ως ισότιμος συνεταίρος και στο νότο, που τώρα δεν είναι, ούτε η προσωπική σας ευτυχία θα είναι μόνιμη ούτε η εκπλήρωση των πόθων και οραμάτων σας θα έχει διάρκεια και μονιμότητα"

Papadopoulos hasn't earned the title of turkeater for nothing.

Personally I too think that Papadopoulos is only interested in being President for the next 8 years (3 remaining + 5 in the next term). Is he for serious negotiations and a solution? So far he has done nearly nothing to prove that. Does he have anything to offer to this country and its people? I don't think so.

Papadopoulos hasn't earned the title of turkeater for nothing.

A "turk eater" ? I disagree. I do not think he ever was brave enough to be involved in battles etc. He just had a life long ambition to become President, that's all.

O.

P.S: Does anyone know where Papadopoulos was in 1974? I know that during the first (or second) day of the coup, he was arrested in Famagusta, but soon after he was released by the orders of Kikis Konstantinou. Just curious.
