There is no such thing as "equal partners", Halil. Equal citizen YES, but there is no such thing as a equal partner when it comes to running a country by it's own people. It is not a business venture, and even if it was, the TCs would only qualify as a very junior partner in what it is that they would bring to the venture, therefore, stick to equal citizenship, since this way, you are also a 100% owners of Cyprus. I don't want to hear your Bayrak's propaganda shit all the time, who does not even see you as a TC, but a CT. I'm amazed that you can still respect them to carry out their propaganda for them. I understand that you need to make a living, but please Halil, don't become a whore to them all the time.!

Kikapu is absolutely right in calling you a whore to your "government", because that is exactly what you are. You have no freedom and no say in the "trnc", as you are just an expendable TC living within a Turkish Military base, and you are not free to dictate or influence any public policies which do not serve the interests of your Master which is the Turkish Army.

You do not support True Democracy based on Equality for all citizens, because this is nothing you have ever experienced in your whole life. Let me tell you what they know about here. Whenever I go to Turkey, I always have a chat with cab drivers especially after landing the airport. What they and other people ask me about Cyprus is always the same!
Here are their questions and comments on Cyprus:

-Is it true that Turkish Cypriots don't like us?
-I don't understand why Turkey transfers money to Turkish Cypriots, we are wasting a lot of money for them.

What was telling really was his recent comment about the gymnasium floor in a recent post as to its condition compared to then. I wonder how many more TCs can remember the floor they were standing on when they were captives to the GC NG. Me suspect he no TC.

I know Kikapu very well, and I can assure you that he is a TC, democrat and international citizen.

If I ever had the misfortune to experience what he did (i.e being a captive/hostage), then the memories of such experiences would be very vivid indeed.

I doubt whether there are any other TCs on CF who would have had worse experiences than being a captive at Kaimakli.

And the inter communal violence disrupted his life in Cyprus, and it is these troubles that violently uprooted him from his homeland. He is just a big a victim as all the other GC refugees that were uprooted from their homes by the Turkish Army, and yet, he forgives.

The guy has a very big heart, and we see him on CF trying to fight for TC rights and a free and democratic Cyprus. All TCs and GCs really need to look up to him as a role model and humanitarian IMHO!

You question the fact that he is a TC. Perhaps your community does not deserve such a resistance fighter for your cause. We, the GCs are willing to claim him as our own, but I doubt he would want this as all he wants to do is stand up for what is right and ensure that the TCs have a future in Cyprus. Nothing would hurt him more than to see the TC culture being erased from Cyprus. This is what the Turkish Army is achieving and this is what he trying to fight against.

Only one thing and that is the north of the island belongs to Turkey because they shed blood in 1974.

As to what I know about the history of Cyprus, I really don't want to share it since it will inevitably lead to non-ending discussions. Wars have never been solution to any problem during the history of the Earth. As a person against of wars and killing human I don't like to engage in any discussion related to any bloodshed.

Hello friends, this is my first post to the forum and I do hope to see rational and constructive comments.

I am a Turkish citizen and have moved to North Cyprus nearly two years ago. My move was supposed to be temporary for a 6-months period, but things developed in a very different way (I fell in love with a Greek girl, but it's another story) than I expected, therefore I had to stay until now. I noticed that I hadn't know anything about Cyprus, Cyprus issue and the history of Cyprus before I came to Cyprus. I would like to mention that I grew up in a highly educated environment, went to the top schools and the top university; METU, in Turkey and eventually consider myself an intellectual.
At the beginning, many issues I read in the newspapers or heard from others were all Greek to me. Afterwards, I searched the web in detail to learn what happened in Cyprus: I first delved into the web pages of Greek origin, then of Turkish origin and finally checked the third party reviews and information about Cyprus history.
Now, I know a lot about the history of the island. Perhaps I now know much more than Turkish Cypriots, but what about Turkish people, what do they think/know about the Cyprus problem. I can easily say that the majority (perhaps %95) of people in Turkey has no single idea about what has happened here and what is going on now.
Let me tell you what they know about here. Whenever I go to Turkey, I always have a chat with cab drivers especially after landing the airport. What they and other people ask me about Cyprus is always the same!

This two sentences above are the only things Turks consider about Cyprus. Consequently, Turkish community in Turkey knows a big NOTHING over Cyprus.

I believe this fact is very important for both communities.

I have been to Turkey many times and my reception there is less than friendly. When I say I am from Cyprus the response is 'Are you Greek?'.
When I try to explain that I am Turkish Cypriot the usual response is 'gavur dölü'. Now figure out to yourself why some TCs 'hate' or dislike mainland Turks.

It is admirable that you fell in love with a Greek Cypriot girl. It is unavoidable and good luck.

I believe it's obvious that I know more. Whenever I ask if they know XXX in their history I generally encounter plain faces.
I don't discriminate between people of different races, bloods etc. Those kind of people have definitely no place in my life. The ones you describe are also out of my interest. I just ignore them.
