Your question reminds me of a discussion which took place a few years back among several Irishmen in a bar in Dublin.

The topic of conversation was centred on the Moon and whether or not there was life or mineral wealth upon or within it.

An elderly Irishman insisted that there was nothing at all of any value there, he was so adamant with his view that a heated argument ensued.

"How can you be so sure ?" enquired one of the group.

"Because" he said, "If there was anything of value up there, the Jews would have had it !"

On a more serious note, I personally believe that there must be countless other forms of life throughout the universe, it would be preposterous to suppose otherwise. IMHO.
