I have read so many different takes on schooling in cyprus for expats and am still unsure what to think,, I am moving out there may next year and to be honest cannot really afford to put my kids into private education, until i get myself established and a decent income coming in, they will be 8,7 and 3 years old when we come out, will they get along alright in state schools, does anyone have kids in state school that could give a good opinion on the matter

Your kids are young so they could learn Greek easily. But if you are going to put them in a public school then you should start from now with some private lessons of Greek so they will be a bit prepared when they come here. And baby-come-... why send PM for this? I think many other people could have similar questions so if you have something useful to say then it would be better to post it in the forum!

I pm'd you too, about the football, did you get that?

With regards to the schools, I wouldnt put my two in the local system but some people do and some of the kids dont seem to mind too much. There are a few schools in Limassol with quite a few brits in, so maybe look into these if you are going to put them into Greek school.

yes thanks got your message, but wont let me reply to it at the moment,, food for thought though,, could you let me know a little more about the facilities/pitches and cost of greek clubs over there to give me a ball park idea .. it is something I defo want to start as my sons love football and as i am qualified to F.A. level 2 it would be a shame to waste it.

Gaz, you could always get in touch with department of education, you will find the contact details online, that way it will give you an idea what schools and the numbers in them are in the area you are planning to move to. I do believe they will send you a list over to uk but ask to have a print out in english to save you alot of headache!! :)
