Maybe you could contact the British bases at Akrotiri and Episkopi to see if they would allow you to use their grounds to hold the football training sessions for the age groups you are hoping to train.

There are military families from the UK with children as well as a large number of children from the UK and other countries attending private English-speaking schools in and around Limassol who would probably be keen to have proper coaching from a qualified person with experience in this field.

Annaka.

Gaz, welcome mate.

I also agree that yes, this is a good idea and I don't mean to burst you bubble, however being realistic do this kids on holiday want to play football in this summer heat or spend it all day at the pool or beach?

There is probably a market in Cyprus and I believe the best advertisment is by word of mouth...

I suggest you start with the locals (probably have them 9 months a year or so) then you can expand.

Thats my view, anyway all the best mate

yeah totally agree , but if I was on holiday and one of the reps said to me, an F.A. qualified coach will be turning up on tues, he will take your 7 year old away on site(ie the tennis courts etc.) for a couple of hours, oooh peace and quite for 2 hrs, for what 15 euros, I would have jumped at it, and I know my son would have too.My plans extend a bit further and more in depth than just taking them off the parents hands for a couple of hours,, holiday awards ,, challenges etc,,,, come on,, what parent and young kid who loves a bit of soccer wouldn't want that on holiday,, I 'm not on about a full camp programme,, just a 2 hr session at some point during the hols,, same as taking a day out trip to see the mountains or go on a boat trip

First choice offer this to their guests already in their larger hotels - check out their soccer program, exactly as you said a few hours a day onsite.

To answer your question as to pitches here, they are shocking, some academies even play on mini football astro turf. The pitches my son used to play on ( He played all over Cyprus) were concrete like hard ,dusty grass, occasionally they would play on a decent looking pitch but it would be full of lumps and bumps.

The bases also already have a very popular football school, and a really nice guy used to do a samba soccer school but he is off to Oz with his family so that ended.

The local academies charge between 40 and 80 euros per month per child in Limassol, for 3 - 5 sessions a week, depending on ages and how often they want to go/or have to go, if its a serious academy team.

If you do decide to come, I am sure handing out leaflets at the schools will get you lots of interest.

Hi jas, thanks for the info,, i did expect the pitches to be of poor quality as it is baking hot there and not much greenery,, are the pitches public or do they need to be booked through local authorities,,, sounds like an opening with the military bases,, as for the serious side of things,, yes i would like to run a professional academy however the emphasis for the younger kids would be on fun and education, and then for the middle aged groups, more drills and discipline, and the the older age group would be focused on team tactics and game play, i am not planning on looking for the next rooney ronaldo, just a fun coaching club to get kids into football, and off the xbox etc. I currently pay for my son £4 per session twice a week and would be looking at about the same sort of cost there,, maybe 4.50euros per session, split into various age groups,, say 6-8yrs,9-11yrs,12-14yrs,, obviously all depends on interest and turnover,,
anyway if you come up with any more points for me or if i have anything for you please let me know.
cheers,,, gaz

Boxing yes, football no. Don't understand, like or play the game. Yeap I was one the picked last when we were kids. I only thing I could do well was the defender thing. The others were scared when I was charging...

Being a PEI (physical education instructor) My question is and I'm sure you have the experts answer - when these kids are training dont they have to be wearing proper football boots? or can they train in normal running trainers?
