If they have a feud between them then let them go to war and fight it out, but it seems to me that instead of doing the honorable thing they both opt to destroy our country by selecting it as their cat & mouse battle ground!

We, the Cypriots must NOT fall for their traps and we must NOT participate in their games by REJECTING them both and asking the international community to help us get rid of this destructive dual-menace!

Very simplistic and childish.

Greece does not occupy Cyprus and nor does it "use" it as her cat and mouse battle ground. If anything, both Greece and Turkey are forging new relationships based on cooperation and understanding.

It is time YOU concentrated on the one true enemy that occupies Cyprus with 40,000 troops.

Where do you come up with these weird ideas.

All it takes is for a bigger and stronger army to throw out these 40,000 troops you’re referring to as their occupation is PHYSICAL, but what will it take to remove many decades worth of poison from the hearts and minds of so many individuals like yourself?

Long-term detoxification may well be called for Paphitis, but does Cyprus have that much time?

Removing the Turkish army from Cyprus is a far easier task than reprogramming the sick minds of so many “Cypriots”!

Well, I entertained your militarism for so long, but that is no viable option I'm afraid, and it certainly is not a proposition that anyone endorses with any seriousness.

Greece does not hold anyone down and force feed them their ethnos. There is only one people in Cyprus and they are the Cypriots, but the Hellenic Ethnos lives on through our language, custom, and through the religious beliefs that some Cypriots maintain. This has been going on for thousands of years, and you are certainly deluding yourself if you think that this can be extinguished.

Look, I don't believe there is going to be a military crusade but I maintain the RoC's sovereign rights to do so. I don't think it will ever be tolerated, and it is a massive gamble, and we might not like the end result.

The best option is to support the current negotiations towards a BBF based on True Federation, such as is the case in Australia for example. If you can achieve some constitutional Federation similar to Australia, US, or Germany, you should be very overjoyed and it will be just as good as a singular Republic, but that would depend on the details of the draft plan.

Of course the above terminology of BBF is quite loose without knowing the finer details. We need to await these details to make a more elaborate and informed decision, because the viability of the solution will depend solely on the content or details.

And I don't require to place any emphasis on Hellenism at all, and certainly not over and above my Cypriot nation.

But obviously many of you have serious hangups about this, and you need to sought it out. Cypriots were not brainwashed into becoming Hellenes, but were the very people that offered a fundamental foundation in its development by developing the very Greek Alphabet, amongst other things.

I'm not one to set about proving some DNA proof, because such things are so fundamentally invalid as far as I'm concerned, due to my scientifically proven beliefs about the origin of Man out of Africa. At the end of the day, the whole Mediterranean was one big melting pot of mixing between various peoples such as the Sea People, Mycenaeans, Arcadians, Phoenicians, Hittites, and so and so on.

Each time I contemplate the CyProb I never see the removal of Turkish troops as such a tall order as the question…”What happens next?”

What will the Greek Cypriots do if the Turkish army was to be thrown off Cyprus, or if you prefer if Turkey was to willingly depart?

Will we see a sudden rise in Greek nationalism again?

Will Greece decide it’s time to wiggle her way back in Cyprus again and some of my foolish compatriots welcome her?

If in this day and age and after all we’ve been through, there are STILL foolish Greek Cypriots having premature ejaculations over this diabolic fanatical movement referred to as “Hellenism” (whatever it may involve/mean) what would we have accomplished upon the removal of Turkey from Cyprus?

Nothing! We would be right back to the 15th of July 1974!

Perhaps the problem has nothing to do with Turkey or Greece, but with the world’s dumbest people… and I’m getting tired and embarrassed being a part of them.

It is not such a tall order, provided Cypriot politicians act in a way that is for the interest of Cyprus. I dream of the day when Cyprus starts building strong bonds with countries that really can influence things on the ground, and this really has not been happening in the last 35 years.

It has taken a pseudo Communist politician to begin seeing the light, and in case you haven't noticed, he is enjoying the support of many.

What will the Greek Cypriots do if the Turkish army was to be thrown off Cyprus, or if you prefer if Turkey was to willingly depart?

Live happily ever after, and try to not fuck things up like previous generations did.

Will we see a sudden rise in Greek nationalism again?

Certainly not. Why should there be.

Will Greece decide it’s time to wiggle her way back in Cyprus again and some of my foolish compatriots welcome her?

You can't be serious.

Greece only supports a Free and Unified Cyprus with her territorial integrity intact. Both Greece and Cyprus are EU members, and any adventurism would be absurd, as well as destructive.

There is no diabolical fanatical Hellenist movement. This is what you call it. Most of us are just happy to call ourselves Cypriots, but you wish to eradicate our heritage.

Just because some of us subscribe to Hellenism as a secondary identifier behind out Cypriotness, does not mean we are Nicos Sampson Juntists...

Nothing! We would be right back to the 15th of July 1974!

That is what you think.

Most people in my generation don't give a stuff about politics, and just want to see a liberated and free Cyprus. It is your generation that demonstrated so very little self control and allowed your nationalistic emotions take hold, and that is why we are where we are today. But your generation is slowly making way to the new improved models of Cypriots, and it is they that will rebuild Cyprus into the great country it should be.

Perhaps the problem has nothing to do with Turkey or Greece, but with the world’s dumbest people… and I’m getting tired and embarrassed being a part of them.

The Cyprus Problem has very little to do with Greece these days. Unfortunately, the Cyprus Problem has lots to do with Turkey, because it is Turkey that divides and occupies the island.

Once again you talk about your generation, and the one before yours, and you give very little credit to the next wave of Cypriots that will clean up your mess once and for all. 8)

So move over, you obsolete Cypriot. 8) Make room for generation X because we are louder, more obnoxious, want everything, including fast cars and nice houses....Not to mention lots of sex, drugs and Rock N Roll Baby....Image

GR you have hit the "bullseye" with this post! "What happens next?" is what most decent TC's worry about, would history repeat itself with foreign nationalism ( for Turkey or Greece ) clouding the minds of Cypriots. The reality is that there are TC's and GC's and we can't just ignore our "Turkishness" or "Greekness". THe fact is there has always been a silent wall between both communities and it ain't gonna tumble down anytime soon. The "Cypriot Nation" after independance never did mature enough to evolve into what GR dreams it of being. That isn't to say that I don't endorse it, I just can't see it happening anytime soon.
