Get your facts right Billy boy, Lurucina is not on the Larnaka Lefkosa road, but 3 miles to the west. It's Mehmetcik at Piroyi that is blocking your road and ours.

I look forward to the day when the roads to Limya and Dali open up officially instead of this driving off the road stuff which both TC and GC police turn a blind eye to.

It's Lymbia reh.

Some years ago I heard stories of this off-road business and strange dealings. Are you confirming these rumours?

Why, what have you heard? There is nothing strange about them, its usual business activities plus maybe some dodgy materials too.

I heard of some of the good people of Lymbia trading with some of your dodgy villagers. I think goats or sheep or was it seeds or fertiliser were involved.

Freddie, another question. If I go to Lymbia and look up the hill-side, up to the Occupied Areas, I see a small white church, clearly used as a look-out by the Jurkish Army. Is that in your village boundary?

Are you talking about the building on the hill top? BTW it is not being used by the TA it is the Locals.

Yes, white building, a small church or chapel right on top of the hill above Lymbia.

Who the feck are the "Locals", sounds like a gang of some kind.

Lurucadi Mucahid are the locals. It used to belong to Limya. They used to use it as an army post and fire into Lurucina. My house is the first one in their line of fire and we used to get shot at by your heroic eoka volunteers from their until 74, when the Lurucadis captured it to stop the bullets being fired in to the village.

So to answer your querstion, no it belongs to Limya.

Ok, thanks F.

How far past the white building is your house? Can you give me a compass bearing for my orientation?

You are not going to bomb it are you?
Because one year recently I was there and you guys had your Nikoforos activities and I was rudely awaken by some very loud bangs.

My regrets that your beauty sleep was disturbed by banging.

LOL - no, no bombs involved, just know some people in Lymbia and visit them, just curious as to where your place is. Any GPS co-ordinates?

Halil old chap, I was having a nice little chat with our Freddie. Your interuption was not very helpful, not terribly in the spirit of reconciliation and and somewhat rude for this late hour.

Regretfully I must warn you that if you do it again I will email your nice Mr Talat and bring your unnecessary, baseless and unkind words to his attention.

the white church on top of the hill was a look out point and guard post for the occupation army. I remember back in 87 when the women did their march onto the Green line and entered the church. The occupation forces arrested quite a few of the women who had arrived with white flags. One of them was my wife who was 12 at the time and was there with her mother.

One of the occupation soldiers pulled her by hair on the floor to throw her in the van until a friend of her mother saw what was happening and offered herself up instead of my wife. We had lunch with her the other day and we compared stories on the occupation prisons.

Kikapu wrote:Can someone tell me why opening any crossings at this point is so important.? What I mean is, if there's going to be a settlement soon, there won't be any crossings anymore. It will be a open country, so what's the big deal in spending time and energy in opening any crossings at this point which has been closed for the last 35 years. The only time opening any crossing now that would be important, if there isn't a settlement soon, and if that's the case, why are all these people giving each other "High Fives" for, for God sake. If the talks are going great, then within few months, the whole country will be open, unless that is not the case, and that there will be an official crossings between the north state and the south state after a settlement has been reached. Can someone please enlighten me on this one.!

It would be a worrying scenario if, in some peoples' eyes, these crossing points are intended to be permanent affairs, albeit without the dodgy "visa" pollocks.

Mind you, the EU wouldn't be too happy with any permanent check-points, gates, sentry-posts or barriers of any kind that would restrict in even the slightest degree the Free Movement of EU citizens.

That's my whole point.!

In the states, we too have "crossing points" between states where commercial vehicles will need to stop and show that they have a permit to operate in that particular state but private cars does not, although, everyone entering California, private or commercial vehicles need to go through a manned "check points" for agricultural inspection to prevent people bringing fruit from outer state that may have fruit flies that can be very damaging to the agricultural industry in California. Personal details are not checked at all. You may be asked if you are bringing any fruit with you, and you are on your way. Most states don't have any "check points" for private vehicles which means no stopping at all.

Yes, I thought that was your point.

I didn't know of these intra-state checks in the US.

Again all I can say is that European regulations will insist on the free movement of goods, services, people without any hindrance, so some wet- dreamers may be disappointed.

I didn't know of these intra-state checks in the US.

Yes there are, and we call them "weigh stations", because that's exactly what they are, stations to weigh commercial vehicles, Trucks and Buses, but mostly Trucks so that they are within the weight limits for safety as well as protecting roads from too much weight damage, and making sure all the permits are in order. Some states are more into it than others. For instance, the great state of Nevada does have weigh stations at most of it's state lines with neighbouring states, but they are not manned at all, therefore there is no need to stop for commercial vehicles, unless the state police does spot inspections now and then. They want the truckers to get to the whorehouses and casinos without delay, may be the reasoning.!

Until the BBF is set up in Cyprus based on True Federation as one country and not as what some TCs or Turkey's dream of a two separate states based on "virgin birth" or a "founding state" with separate identity, it will be best to wait until the final state lines are drawn before setting up all these "check points" and if a settlement is not too far away, then lets wait few months more and do it once and for all. but as you say, I doubt there can be any form of official crossings in the future within EU, let alone within one country. Even in Switzerland, where there are 26 Cantons as a Confederation state, there are no crossing points or weigh stations on the motorways. The only time you know that you are in a different Canton, is when you drive on secondary roads and come to a town which will have the Canton's initials at the end of the Town's name, such as "ZH" after the towns name in the Canton of Zurich.!

Betragulli, stop these wet dreams otherwise you will turn into chinese.
Contrary to GC beliefs, there are no Turkish Army soldiers in Lurucina, its an all Cypriot Army. Admittedly the Turkish Army is only 5 miles away in Piroi and can help to defend it in case Betragulli and his ramshackle GR army decide to have a go.

Second point, if Eoka and the NG did not use the Church to fire on the civilians, the Lurucadis would never have attacked and taken that church, because it’s the only GC land that they took in 74
