Postby dcoops22 » Tue Jun 23, 2009 6:52 pm

Does anybody know if is possible to take the Cyprus bike test and transfer it to the U.K? I do own a property but I am not resident and just holiday there. If it is possible does anybody know what I need to do?

If you are living more than six months in Cyprus or working in Cyprus, you must surrender your UK license to the licensing department in Cyprus.

There, they will issue you with a Cypriot European license and send yours back to UK.

Lets say you were to leave Cyprus then you go back to the UK, there you will surrender your CYP license and they will hand you back your UK one, sending the Cypriot license back to Cyprus

Any tests you pass in Cyprus can be added to your UK license, if sent to Swansea with the relevant paperwork.

A new law for all EU countries will be adopted soon allowing the court of one EU state to impose points on a license of another EU state drivers license.

That is to say if you are convicted by a court in Cyprus for drink and driving and you are the holder of a UK license, then that court may impose points on your UK license.

Zorba, I will find out for you to be 100% sure.

My question is, who will be driving a HGV unless he/she is working?

I will let you know

I made a few phone calls, if you have a UK HGV license.

It can be transferred into a Cyprus Professional license, however you may be subject to a medical test.

This not always the case however professional drivers are required.

Hope I've helped you

This used to be the case, but now it is not necessary unless you are a permanent resident in Cyprus which means your address on your UK licence is wrong, so the UK DVLA say you have to change your licence and they don't accept overseas addresses.

Funny how everything is being done the “right” way in the UK, yet most of you can’t wait to get the fuck out of there…
