Sorry to break in to your mourning Deniz ... but you are projecting your own views and feelings now.
Perhaps he died happy knowing that the Republic of Cyprus lives on and most of its original members are dutifully trying to restore a healthy republic free from invaders, whom as you've said have denied him the honour of being draped with the flag he designed ....

Mr Guney was a family friend and a teacher of mine in the Turkish Boys Lyce in Nicosia 1958-64. He was a great artist and poet. He also was a keen photographer.
He also fought with his Cypriot compatriots during the Second World War in Palestine and Ancona.
Rest in peace my teacher.
