I'm pretty sure that even a deadbeat moron such as yourself will acknowledge - at least when sober - that the answer to this question is a resounding NO.

What you would like the answer to be is of course an entirely separate matter.

Its unfortunate, but (minority) views such as this will only serve to keep the current status quo going and for Cyprus to remain a divided island.

Do you have an evidence to convince anyone that what you refer to as a minority view is in fact a minority view?

Just a hunch from me, but ok then, so lets accept its the majority view.
Nothing more to talk about.

On this issue there never was, thanks for coming!

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE 22.JUN.09
The use of the nouns “Turkish Cypriot” and “Turkish Cypriots” has been banned on all programs broadcast by "state run" Bayrak Television network in northern Cyprus.

In the place of “Turkish Cypriot” the term “Turk of Cyprus”, will be used.

According to the Yeni Duzen newspaper, the director of Bayrak, Ozer Kanli, confirmed the bizarre decision.

“The expression Turkish Cypriots describe the persons who were born in Cyprus. But it does not include our compatriots who came to our island after 1974.

“The expression ‘Turk of Cyprus’ includes both the Turkish Cypriots and the Turks who came later to Cyprus and has a broader meaning.

"The term 'Turkish Cypriots' was used by foreigners. This expression started to be used during the latest period and such an expression never existed in Bayrak’s history,” he said.

According to Yenı Duzen, before 2004 the use of terms such as “Cypriots” and “Turkish Cypriots”, which were used by the “Platform this Country is Ours”, were forbidden by the “government” of the National Unity Party

...and were the Tcs asked if they want to be called Turks of Cyprus?
Tcs are forced to be deprived of their identity, how are they going to react?

Here is the first reaction, Two fingers.

YFred
I would have thought, at least you (coming from a Lino Bambaki village) would not support the idea of being branded the same as Turks,Kurds,Arabs & Laz Turkey has imported to Cyprus since 1974.

We all know the political views of Ozer Kanli and just because he licked enough arses within UBP to become Bayrak's new director does not mean we will give up our identity!!

I thought YFred was sticking two fingers up at the new directive ?

If that's the case, i misunderstood, so i owe him an apology

Yes but we (G/cs) are the clever -good boys-this is because they are sure that finally they will get the bastard state they want under the Cyuprus flag!!!having Turkey always around controlling whether we are even breath in a Greek way.As for air/sea territory, Cyprus flag ,on the way our politicians using it, will be exactly what Turks want to control same.
Cyprus flag and what its represent can not be used for further allowances to the invators and their supporters in North. But what government (our) interesting more is the comments of the EU governments -whether ROC is a good or bad boy.Turks ,be the bad boys, seems to win so far!!!!

Hi everyone,

I recently read a 14 page thread regarding this issue in the same section of this forum. I have written the following article regarding it because I simply couldn't stand there like sheep amongst the wolves doing nothing. The article can be found at:

Welcome to the forum.

Rather than worry about the removal of the words being used by Bayrak, perhaps you can serve the interest of the TCs better by writing about how the RoC has been attempting to remove TCs themselves and not just words from Cyprus between 1960 to date, and almost succeeding.

Now that will be some news item worth reading even for the more extreme elements of the forum who shall remain nameless mainly Eoka-Cs.

Why, so you can feel sorry for yourself some more? Aren’t you tired of self-pity yet? Pick yourself up you miserable fool and write up something interesting and useful…

GR stop looking in the mirror and talking to yourself.
That was sound advice to our new gameboy on the subject matter he should concentrate on, how much more intersting do you need?
We have been suffering a slow economic genocide in the hands of the roc and you just want it to be swept under the carpet. Well do your own sweeping.
