The use of the nouns “Turkish Cypriot” and “Turkish Cypriots” has been banned on all programs broadcast by "state run" Bayrak Television network in northern Cyprus.

In the place of “Turkish Cypriot” the term “Turk of Cyprus”, will be used.

According to the Yeni Duzen newspaper, the director of Bayrak, Ozer Kanli, confirmed the bizarre decision.

“The expression Turkish Cypriots describe the persons who were born in Cyprus. But it does not include our compatriots who came to our island after 1974.

“The expression ‘Turk of Cyprus’ includes both the Turkish Cypriots and the Turks who came later to Cyprus and has a broader meaning.

"The term 'Turkish Cypriots' was used by foreigners. This expression started to be used during the latest period and such an expression never existed in Bayrak’s history,” he said.

According to Yenı Duzen, before 2004 the use of terms such as “Cypriots” and “Turkish Cypriots”, which were used by the “Platform this Country is Ours”, were forbidden by the “government” of the National Unity Party

...and were the Tcs asked if they want to be called Turks of Cyprus?
Tcs are forced to be deprived of their identity, how are they going to react?

Show us that YOU care and tell us what YOU have done since 1963 to help us preserve our identity...Then and only then have you got the face to criticise others...

We do not need, we do not want to critise others- we just want to lieve Cyprus in the hands of its owners-G/cs

You have.....Well at 63% of it anyway 8) 8)

Not enough- nothing must remain under settlers (1578+1974) hands
Cyprus belongs to its habitans-Greeks of Cyprus

Nah!! Thats my final offer....Singing the Greek national anthem in my Cyprus is not going to happen!!! 8)

Have you ever think that may we do not want you either to be under the Greek national anthem?but you can always liesen to our/your politicians and live in your dreams.

I'm pretty sure that even a deadbeat moron such as yourself will acknowledge - at least when sober - that the answer to this question is a resounding NO.

What you would like the answer to be is of course an entirely separate matter.

This debate would be better served if arseholes such as you did not get involved , piene gamisou kolopedo !!

Since you've permanently got your drunken head up your ass, all debates in which you are involved are better served by nobody apart from your participating, just like the drunks that live under bridges or on park benches.

Its unfortunate, but (minority) views such as this will only serve to keep the current status quo going and for Cyprus to remain a divided island.

Here is the first reaction, Two fingers.

YFred
I would have thought, at least you (coming from a Lino Bambaki village) would not support the idea of being branded the same as Turks,Kurds,Arabs & Laz Turkey has imported to Cyprus since 1974.

We all know the political views of Ozer Kanli and just because he licked enough arses within UBP to become Bayrak's new director does not mean we will give up our identity!!

I thought YFred was sticking two fingers up at the new directive ?

Have you ever heart a list of benefits of a united and a devided Island in the case of Cyprus?at least in free side they (politicians) considering that only a united Island will benefit G/cs-is this correct? or it will be only the horse in order (not T/cs but Turkey itself) to control whole Island? You have to consider that policians saying united island they do not mean (in our certain case) a democratic (1 person-1 vote) or without gurantees state. They know very well that they are speaking about a banania which will be named united cyprus-thats all- if they considered united state with the real meaning of the term then we, all, would support but..

Do you have an evidence to convince anyone that what you refer to as a minority view is in fact a minority view?

Correct movement- in line with constitution which however provides that Greek flags must stay in schools/ town halls and other Greek society buildings.Exempt if Christofias decide to touch the untouchables!!!
