Cyprus House call for Marbles
05/07/09
The Cyprus House of Representatives has called for the return of Parthenon sculptures to Greece. In a resolution which the House plenary adopted unanimously on Thursday, Cypriot MPs called on the British government and every other competent authority of the United Kingdom to give a definite end to the adventure of the Marbles, by returning them to their natural space.

Having debated the issue of the return of the Parthenon sculptures to Greece and taking into consideration the opening of the New Acropolis Museum, the House called on all countries as well as UNESCO to renew and intensify their efforts for the return of the Parthenon sculptures to Greece ''and for the reintegration of this unique element of the global cultural heritage to the natural space where it belongs''.

The House expressed its deep satisfaction over the functioning of the New Acropolis Museum and congratulated the government of Greece and all others involved in its establishment.

Today it is obvious that the Marbles must be placed next to the other marbles, in their museum, next to Acropolis itself, the resolution added.

Furthermore, the House said it joined its voice ''with millions of citizens in the whole world who ask for the restoration of the Parthenon sculptures to Greece.''

It added that the functioning of the New Acropolis Museum, which was inaugurated on June 20, constitutes the strongest argument for the security, maintenance and exhibition of the Marbles as a single monument of cultural heritage.

My dear O. You and your new-found bedfellow Milti must have Lost Your Marbles ........Woman!

Let me put it in these ways ..........

It's a matter of stewardship and there's no better place for some of the Marbles than the BM.

The BM, one of the World's great centres of the Western Liberal Enlightenment. In very real ways those of you who see this affair in terms of nationalism and go on to attack the BM are attacking Enlightenment values and assaulting the rediscovery of interest in the arts and sciences a couple of centuries ago. London and its BM and other centres of inquiry was very much at the heart of a movement which led to so much progress in the arts, in science and technology and the idea that knowledge and inquiry lead to human progress, an approach that we all still benefit from.

Those who don't see this affair in this More Enlightened way, those who suffer from a lack of foresight and imagination and who are so clearly the sad victims of nationalist brain-washing are the real Sharia Law Supporters for they foolishly and inadvertedly seek to bring an end to an Age of Enlightenment that has given and gives the World so much.

In my way of thinking those who don't have the free-thinking foresight to see this thing in these Enlightened Ways would do well to consider taking up residency in Tnucland with the Land Scammers.

My Ayabiti Fellow Forumers, join me in calling for the Atheneucians to end the Partition by sending the remaining Marbles here to London.

blah balh blah...NOTHING in the BM is British!! The Empire which stole and pillaged is long gone, time to hand back what was stolen.

People who say they're well looked after at the BM are talking rubbish. People are allowed to take flash photography which is forbidden in Greece, and this ones the classic...the BM organise their posh meals WITHIN the same hall as the marbles with fat cats puffing away on cigars...shocking!!

They're not British, they're not English. Do the right thing for a change and hand them back.

How about they charge Greece for the full cost of looking after them but also pay back everything they've ever earned from them...entrances, ad's, corporate dinners...etc.

I say OYK attack the south West shores of England by cover of darkness and remove Stonehenge. We can put it up for display at the new waterpark. I'm sure the South West corner of Cyprus gets more tourists than the SW corner of England, meaning more people will have the chance to enjoy these useless rocks.

You short-sighted fools! ... all jumping into bed with our O and our M.

You would drag us back to the Dark Ages with your Nasty Nationalisms and with your Reactionary Counter Enlightenment Regurgitations.

I'll be back ....
