Cyprus doesn't even have a main museum, just tiny small museums in every city and village. :x

I am delighted to announce that arrangements are in place for all CYs and others to visit the British Museum to see the London Marbles and other antiquities without entry fee, for free.

The Rip-Off Bleeding Atheneucians will charge to enter their "museum".

...Oh and it's only proper that the Capital City of the CYs that is The Great Wen (London) should attract to it and house the World's greatest collection of antiquities.

If the Atheneusians and their lame, bum-licking whoaisb supporters value their Ancient Contribution to Civilisation, they should appreciate the value of housing a part of the Marbles here in the World's Greatest City and not n a tourist attraction.

One thing to remember abou Elgin. He NEVER VISITED THE PARTHENON!!!

He gave orders to his Italian contractor by mail to hack off the marbles after he read descriptions, also by mail, of the marbles. So this crap about him saving the marbles is just that, crap.

The claimm for the return is not a general claim for return of antiquities. It is a claim for the reconstitution of one of the world's great monuments. Greece has said officially that it is interested only in the marbles of the Parthenon and has no claims on the Greek antiquities which fill six rooms in the British Museum.

The British Museum position is one of "ownership" and the mere use of the word shows where they are in terms of culture. The more you read and research about Elgin and the Marbles affair the more you discover the true nature of Britain and how things work.

One last comment. If grand museums did not form a sizeable market then there would be no need to save antiquities from anyone because they would have no monetary value for thieves. Grand museums have put together collections of stolen artifacts, they are no better than common fences. (fence= receiver of stolen goods)

It's just €1, a rather symbolic fee I would say.

Introductory offer of 1E, increases to 5E in a years time. See the Marbles for free here in London.

Just back from a drive through several London High Streets, all packed with shoppers. Regretfully have to say propagandist news of the demise of the London economy is ill-founded pollocks.

The BM has run out of excuses to try and justify the theft of these marbles...even calling them the 'Elgin Marbles' is insulting...and as for saying they would've been ruined if he didnt save them, what a load of bollocks!! How come the rest of the marbles are intact and in the museum??

The good old British colonial arrogance rises to the surface once again, as they know if they let these go then there will be claims for other things in the BM, as surprise surprise nothing in there is actually British!!

Do the honourable right thing for once in your f**kin lives and return the Marbles to their rightful home...

If you read how they were removed and sawn into 'suitable sizes.....now that is vandalism.

On Sundays question time, during the talk on the Elgin Marbles , mention was made of a forged Ferman/Firman. (A decree by the Ottoman Sultan allowing these to be removed from the Parthenon). Does anyone know if this was true? It is the first time I have heard of it. NO, I am not trying to absolve the Ottomans from anything.

The wider issue is that the British (establishment) can exonerate itself with a custodial role whilst the original sources of these antiquities prepare themselves to receive them back.

Thus, their Colonial-day pilfering can have a positive spin for the new era.

All these countries now have just as good facilities to house their belongings, and the British (establishment) should face the Courts if they don't comply, like decent self-respecting human beings ....
