He is doing a great job reversing the diplomatic victory you enjoyed over the Annan Affair, as a result of Tassos Papadopoulos having no skill in Foreign diplomacy and PR.

Christofias is actually very well received in countries such as Australia, by all mainstream political parties. I remember when Tassos was President, no one actually wanted anything to do with Cyprus, but Christofias is now building vital bridges with EU partners and even the US, Australia, Canada et al.

The talk in Australia is about his initiatives in finding a solution to the Cyprus problem. No one is talking about Turkey any more, and the way things are panning out, it looks as though it will be Turkey that is condemned if the peace process fails.

Some of this may be due to Alexander Downer being the new UN envoy, and I am certain he secretly briefs the Australian Government about any developments on the negotiation table. What is certain is that Alexander Downer did not make any claims that there will be a 2 state solution, or that this process will be the final chance for a settlement as portrayed in the "trnc" and Turkish medias.

Christofias has placed Cyprus in a win win situation. He is reclaiming the respect of many nations across the world.

He may be well known down under but in Mainland Europe, the vast majority of the people do not even know his name so how is it that he is doing so well ?

You appear to be overestimating your current leaders impact on the world stage but so be it if it makes you happy...the bottom line he is in the process of negotiating a deal with the TCs and no matter how much the world "likes" Christofias the people he faces is us and he will have to include our concerns and fears in a new deal. Without with he will still have a divided island a thorn in the side of the EU which will continue to bleed.

You seem to forget that the world is once again realising the recalcitrance of the Turks, as it is a well known fact that President Christofias is acting in good faith, but is facing the CTs who are no longer free to negotiate the future of their island with their countrymen. Instead it seems the "trmc" leadership must bend over backwards to appease Turkey by making maximalist claims that they know will never be accepted by the GCs. But President Christofias is persistent and is maintaining his stance whilst highlighting to the world the demon he faces in Turkey, and for the first time since 2004, the world is starting to turn towards the RoC by realising that the blame belongs to Turkey and that it is Turkey that is obstructing President Christofias' efforts for peace.

This is what is talked about within the Australian Media and within Australian political circles. Even Alexander Downer mentioned that the biggest obstacle to the Cyprus peace process is Turkey, and that the demands from the Turkish side are unrealistic. He stated this in Australia, at a fundraiser for his party.

President Christofias has his strategy, and so far, things are going according to plan. :D

Yes. When he became Pres, I wasn't over-pleased or over-impressed but he has proved me and I suspect a good many others, wrong. He was under-estimated.

He has played the diplomatic game very skillfully and he is getting better and better on this as the months pass. He has made Slaphead and Errorgluee look like headless chickens as they go on and on about their curious demands for derogations and special priveleges in various empty corridors in the EU and US. This dodgy pair must be getting more and more desperate and frustrated.

... and yes, if these talks fail I'm pretty sure that PresX and his team will successfully be able to put all the blame on unreasonable Turkey.

So PresX, well done mate. It's all to play for.

Since when does it matter if the public know who a foreign leader is? If he's known and liked by the heads of state then job done.

If you say so then you have nothing to worry about your entry into the EU.
