sorry I'm a little new at this but if I understand correctly the news came out that Eroglu is banning the terms Turkish Cypriot and Cypriot in the occupied territories...and some people who I assume are Turkish Cypriot are happy about this?

The newly elected nationalist party UBP will make changes this only means that the national TV BRT will not use the words mentioned in the original post by Halil, this does not mean Turkish Cypriots will adopt the same.

When a Pakistani who happens to be British also, does not tell another Pakistani that he is a British Pakistani when they introduce themselves to each other, because it is obvious that he is a Pakistani. When you talk with another TC in Turkish, do you say to them that you are a Cypriot Turkish (Kibrisli Türk) as a way to introduce yourself to them, no, because they know that you are a Cypriot (Kibrisli). Even the settlers are smarter than you, that they too do not need to be told that you are a Kibrisli Türk, because they can tell from your bastardised Turkish accent that you are a Kibrisli (Cypriot), which they look down on you as being inferior.

May well be the reason why you want to become a Turk, to give yourself a little boost to your battered inferiority complex all these years that the settlers have been in Cyprus. How long before the UBP demands that all the TC's who have gotten RoC EU passports to give them back to the RoC since they are no longer Turkish Cypriots, but are now Cyprus Turks, and if anyone refuses, they will get 25 years hard labour ( if they are lucky) for their traitorous acts.! Don’t think it’s not coming, because that is my next prediction, that it will.!

The BRT move is a form of manufacturing consent by utilizing the mass media to recondition a society’s way of thinking. A neccesary step in achieving the long term change aimed by Turkey.
