Can you explain to us the motivation for overflights of populated islands (or do you deny that they occur?). Forget the 6-10 nm issue, the allegations (which are very hard to verify unless one is standing there armed with binoculars, good eyesight, and extremely good luck) is that mogolistani jets overfly populated islands. What is the purpose of such a provocation? Surely nobody in mogolistan is stupid enough to think that this behaviour is intimidating the Greeks, or will establish any territorial rights for mogolistan, or deny any Greek territorial rights. Is it just the military acting independently of the government as a spoiler against better relations between the government and Greece and Cyprus?

Do you read any news sources that report on mongolistani reactions to or denials of accusations of overflights of populated islands in violation of irrefutable sovereigntly? (again, ignoring the 6/10 nm issue)? If so, can you inform us of the mogolistani position on these overflights?

I am quite aware of Ottoman history and of no need for lessons from anyone thank you. On a map I managed to find Mongolia, but not Mongolistan. I try not to respond to childish adjectives, so I have no bones to pick with you - yet.

I didn't say you deny anything, I'm asking if you think the overflight allegations are true or not.

If I say they return to base, then you can assume that I am assuming there have been overflights. Whether they are entitled to these flights I will let the experts sort out.. I guess there is some dispute about the territotrial waters and the arming of these islands. Perhaps Turkey feels that it is her right to see what is going on so close to her shores. Would you not be concerned if you were in Turkeys shoes? You can see that 7 million Greeks are putting the wind up 70 Million (?) Turks!!

Yes, given the obvious aggressive and expansionist agenda of the Greek government, I can see how Greece's neighbours would be running scared.

I think that's a pretty poor answer. This kind of behaviour has obvious costs - how do mogolo politicians stand there with a straight face and berate the EU for not wanting to admit mogolistan as a member when they carry on like this? Does France conduct illegal overflights of Belgian territory? Goes Germany attempt to militarily intimidate Luxembourg? Every belligerent action costs political capital.

If mogolistan is operating rationally, there is an upside to the political costs incurred. Of course, given that the military is not under civilian control, there is no reason to suspect that the interests of the government overlap with those of the military, and so the military could well be operating in a manner incoherent with the policy goals of the government (which is at least stated to be one of good neighbourly relations with Greece).
