Common Names and Language!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

or there is the Singapore model - 3 national languages Tamil, Malay and Mandarin with all required to study at least one in school, proficiency is required to graduate - but where the main language of instruction is English. Laws are made in the 3 national languages with English as a neutral language in case of misunderstanding in translation. English is generally the working language of business and government but all 3 national languages can be used for official communication.

Given the make up of the the Cyprus economy - tourism and offshore services - having Greek, Turkish, Arabic and a Latin base language as official with English would following unification be a massive boost the both these commercial areas.

Only Greek & Turkish will be used as official languages. Don't waste your time posting bollocks.

The Cyprus legal sysem is based on Common Law and incorporates British Case law up to 1960. Therefore English is still used in courts simply inorder to cite cases and statutes etc. This proves that English is a currently active part of a vital part of the administration of the RoC. Extending it to other spheres of government would be a simple matters.

In addition the use of English would let the civil service of any future BBF to develop more independently of either mainland system. Having English as an official language would allow Cyprus to use the English translation of EU proceedings, regulations etc and thus free us from another angle from mainland influence.
