Given the huge oil reserves and aggresive, warmongering neighbour, CY must spend money on a small naval force to deter aggression and to defend its Economic Zone.
Pres X mate, scrap the Highway north from Paphos and spend the money on some boats instead.
You will need more than just a small naval force dear boy, perhaps hire the 6th fleet for the duration? You might just have a chance.
Although there are alternative methods, like with the Egyptians, Israelis and Lebanese, try talking and agreeing, it would be to the benefit of all concerned, wouldn't you say?
We have agreed with the Egyptians, Lebanese and Israelis.
There is no one else to agree with. The Oil and Gas is off our southern shores.
All the RoC requires is a few Gun Boats, or Fast Attack Craft.
The US Navy 6th Fleet will come free of charge. All they need to do is park the Saratoga nearby. And this is exactly what they would do if they thought Turkey will challenge their exploration efforts.
May I also remind you that Israel is another country that has interests in RoC oil and gas.
So please. Go right ahead, and send in your navy....
I will be watching CNN, eating my popcorn...
Learning must never stop. We have so much to learn in life.
Get your measuring tape out and measure how far Egypt is from prospective oil fileds and the same for Turkey. You may be in for a shock.
BTW how many miles of sea does RoC claim?

We’ve already got small patrol gun boats but they’re not good enough against the Turkish navy on their own. If it comes to a confrontation our best bet is to use our squadron of Mi-35Ps loaded with Exocet AM39s.

Exactly what international law says. 200NM commercial zone.If this area is reached other's country's 200NM then difference devided. As far as I know Turkey is North of Cyprus and therefore not possible Turkey to be entitled in this area.

This what we actually need-and is available free of charge

Now you see, there we have an agreement because these oil fields fall between Turkey and Egypt which makes RoC an irritating fly to be squashed whenever the irritation gets to be beyond tolerance.
