[quote="baby-come-fly-with-me"]They sent the wrong car!! it was okay though as they soon sent ours, but boy were they rude, and wouldnt admit fault etc.
Might have been better to have stopped using them after their first mistake
I've imported cars to Cyprus from the UK a few times (tax paid) and had items stolen from the first car, after that I chained up spare wheels and removed CD players etc, thus removing temptation.
Cars that I saw being off loaded from the 'Leo Borchard' on arrival at Limassol a couple of years ago had enough damage to keep local body repair shops in business for quite awhile, fortunately my two cars were intact and undamaged but I still refused to sign any documentation until after inspection as once signed for any damage found afterwards is not covered by insurance.
AND while its nothing to do with the original post I can no longer be bothered with it all and prefer instead to buy new locally as there too many Brits and Cypriots running scams in the UK exporting high end cars to Cyprus. Many of the cars arriving here are ex company vehicles purchased at auction, usually thrashed by their company drivers or their spouses/partners with service histories on paper only. Dont believe me? thats up to you but I had company supplied Mercs and BMW's in the UK which were changed every eighteen months, servicing was a joke with the company vehicle admin department of the business sending out the service log books to main dealers for stamping up and details being entered on their systems. 'Service' payment was part of the lease deal price which was adjusted accordingly. A win win situation for the customer company and the leasing business but not for any poor Joe or Costas buying second hand
Take a car into any main dealer in Cyprus for a service now and one of the questions asked will be 'Is the vehicle a personal import', in theory it should make no difference but with the loss of local sales main dealers on the island who are only to well aware of what is going on with UK company vehicles are begining to be very careful about what trouble they might pick up, European Warranty or not
With seemingly every other car on the island now bearing a UK registration number for a supposedly limited time it might be cheaper for the RoC to sub contract vehicle registration to the UK's DVLA with the former RoC Transport civil servants acting as liason officials visiting Swansea on an all expenses paid + overseas allowances week on week off basis. Swansea's not such a bad place after all and it has the benefit of a sizeable Cypriot community as well as almost endless shopping opportunities
