He said Iran’s support for Turkey’s membership at the EU would accelerate the process. - yeah!

Iran advocates Turkey’s membership at EU

ANKARA (IRNA) – Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Bahman Hossinpour expressed Tehran’s support for Ankara’s membership at the European Union.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has supported Turkey’s membership at the EU in the past and will do in the future,” Hosseinpour said in a meeting with Turkish State Secretary Baghish Egemen.

He hailed the growing ties between Tehran and Ankara over the past 10 years.

“Iran and Turkey can expand cooperation to resolve regional problems. There is no need for interference of foreign countries,” the Iranian diplomat said.

Egemen stressed the importance of expanding bilateral economic ties and said the two countries should take steps toward enhancing the level of economic cooperation to 20 billion dollars.

[b]He said Iran’s support for Turkey’s membership at the EU would accelerate the process.[b]

He urged Tehran and Ankara to exchange views on regional woes including developments in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as the campaign against terrorism and illicit drugs.

He expressed hope to pay a visit to Iran in the near future to explore ways for bolstering mutual ties.

Using your very own analogy for Human Rights...Then ALL countries are just a "different cockroach in the same sewer".

BTW...."Same Cockroach different sewer" doesn't make sense....Surely you mean "different cockroach same sewer"...

Cyprus and Greece have a near perfect HR record. :D If only my country (Australia) can take a leaf out of Greece's book, then all would be sweet. Australia can only aspire to such HR greatness... So we look to Greece and Cyprus to show us the way for they are the pillars of our western society... 8)

Seems like the entire Med is a sewer with cockroaches. I'd hate to see what I'd find in Spain and France with their Algerian and Latin American immigrants.
