Behold! ... The Cypriot National Anthem!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Behold! ... The Cypriot National Anthem!

It's so good, another EU member country has also adopted it. :D

Never mind ... it is ours and we are proud of it.

It represents all the people of Cyprus ...

For the person who asked for its translation, on my (now locked) thread ...

Here is Rudyard Kipling's translation ...

The Cypriot National Anthem

We knew thee of old,
Oh, divinely restored,
By the lights of thine eyes
And the light of thy Sword

From the graves of our slain
Shall thy valour prevail
As we greet thee again-
Hail, Liberty! Hail!

Long time didst thou dwell
Mid the peoples that mourn,
Awaiting some voice
That should bid thee return.

Ah, slow broke that day
And no man dared call,
For the shadow of tyranny
Lay over all:

And we saw thee sad-eyed,
The tears on thy cheeks
While thy raiment was dyed
In the blood of the Greeks.

Yet, behold now thy sons
With impetuous breath
Go forth to the fight
Seeking Freedom or Death.

From the graves of our slain
Shall thy valour prevail
As we greet thee again-
Hail, Liberty! Hail!

A translation in English by Rudyard Kipling in 1918

Lyrics: --Dionysios Solomos, 1824
Music: Nikolaos Mantzaros, 1828

Greek expansionistic garbage begging to be replaced even with something as daft as “Egia gotchini bou bais”!

PS: You do realize of course that this Greek propaganda thread; a recurring theme with you, is going to cost you yet another Greek shame thread.

What about Cypriot Human Rights abuses?

Are there any reference to these by Amnesty or the US State Department? Is Cyprus a baby cockroach in the same sewer as everyone else, or are Cypriots the ultimate perfection?

I know that Aussies are ultimate perfection with their concentration camps. We love sticking it up Amnesty International and th UN whenever we get a chance.

Why is this, or any of my other threads, "Greek expansionist"?

Do they threaten your Turkish Expansionist dreams?

BTW ... This is the RoC National Anthem and is not a Greek Expansionist anything ... so save it for the President! 8)

Sorry to say, but the Aussies with their concentration camps and the Americans with their Guantanamo Bay are light years ahead of both Greece and Cyprus, but Turkey puts both these beacons of light to ultimate shame!

You are almost funny. Australians pushing aborigines over the cliff tops and the Americans killing over a million people in Iraq do take some beating.

Where is your link to this brutal massacre?

Old McDonald had a farm would be more appropriate than this meaningless and irrelevant anthem in which you cream your pants for.
