I do hope that the two frustrated individuals refrain from getting involved in this thread which is a very light hearted , non political and meant to be fun , as well as revealing for the first time a business venture that came to me while sampling the Cypriot food and wine at a few eateries in Cyprus. I though of this venture while I was at Kourion on Saturday last , its not just a business venture but an informative and to the point no nonsense idea. Has it been done before ? I'm certain it has , but has it been done by a TRUE Cypriot that understands the people who will be the main "targets" of this idea . If it has I most certainly have not come across it . All will be revealed just as soon as the forever destructive elements are "exterminated " !!

Cyprus has always been for me the best place on earth , biased naturally since I was born in Stroumbi The Great , but having always objectively appraised every aspect of Cyprus living , good , bad and not so good , my bias is therefore of minimal impact on the overall perception of Cyprus and of course of Cypriots.
My objectivity and ability to exercise total impartiality has been a main factor in arriving at my new venture which I aim to have up and running by the time I'm 65 in a couple of years time . Much research is needed and since such research is stupendously pleasurable it means that the financial elements are demoted to the lowest levels.
The input by most of the members on this forum would be greatly beneficial , I just hope that the natural elements of destruction , both , or more , infatuated with Miltiades , remain away .
GR's contribution would be most welcome provided he does not start accusing Obama of being a war criminal but above all Kifeas with his vast experience in this closely related field . The plan to be revealed !!

I cant wait!!!

Welcome back Miltiades. As you can see, your 'friends' indeed missed you. Their 'warm' welcome is a testament to this. Mind you the thermostat is faulty so it is a bit too hot. I am sure you will be able to sort the problem out.

We lunched at the THALASSA restaurant , very modern and quite pleasant , more of that this evening. It was indeed very busy .
I'm planning my next trip July 17th to the 20th so will catch up then.

While enjoying a fish lunch at the Kourion Beach , Chris Blue lagoon , it came to me that the only hobby I have ever had and thoroughly enjoyed , always eager for the next one , was eating out and enjoying good food and wine. I must admit I dont know many restaurants in Cyprus since mostly I have always patronized the ones that gave me the best in food , service , ambiance and value for money . This time I added two more to my list one of them being the Famagusta Nautical in Limassol and the other the Thalassa in Governors beach .

At Kourion I have always had fresh fish with a village salad and a few of the traditional dips , all of which were excellent and very fresh, never once did I have the slightest reason to complain over the years that I have been having lunch at Chris's Blue Lagoon. I do not have any financial interest in the place , I know the owners only through my custom at their restaurant which recently underwent modernisation creating a much more comfortable environment .
I decided that I would start compiling a list of restaurants that I visit and would award points out of 10 on 4 important aspects , Food , Service , Ambiance and Value for Money . I left wines and spirits out since what one restaurant may offer other restaurants can offer the identical product. "Child friendly" has also not been included since all eateries in Cyprus are by tradition child friendly and I did not want my judgment to be affected by how much my grandchildren enjoyed the amenities.
I have lunched numerous times at the Amathus hotel , mostly on Sundays and always the buffet, so I thought would start by the Amathus which will form the criteria of my critique since on all four aspects it scores in my book 10 out of 10 .
May I also say that I do not consider someone eating caviar and langoustines while drinking Lois Roederer Cristal Champagne as necessarily a connoisseur , a rich bastard yes but not always a connoisseur which in my opinion a connoisseur is one who enjoys well cooked fresh food be it fasolada , a plate of fish and chips , sausage and mush as well as Lobster thermidor , Angus reared Fillet steak , Cypriot ameletita on the bbq or indeed a plate of karaolous !
A true connoisseur enjoys most food that is well cooked well presented , but not overtly so that it loses its identity , ( something that Haute cousine manages somehow to achieve in pretentious venues ) ,
as well as combining the type of food he/she is having with the most pleasant to the palate wine.

Just to invite some comments here is my list thus far .

FOOD SERVICE AMBIENCE VALUE FOR MONEY TOTAL
Amathus 10 10 10 10 40

Kourion Beach 9 8 9 10 36

Famag.Naut 7 5 7 7 26

Thalassa
Gov. Beach 5 5 8 5 23

Dasoudi 7 6 8 6 27

In "judging " ambiance I took into account that apart from the Amathus all other eateries allow smokers to sit next to you forcing you to endure their unpleasant habit and smell , so Kourion has had a point deducted !!!

I would like to hear from members on their favourite restaurants , and what they mostly look for in a restaurant venue.

ps. Cockroaches are an unsightly sight either in restaurants on indeed on this thread , lets keep them out.
Cheers !
