T/C BUSES CROSS TO SOUTH FOR THE FIRST TIME

ALL NEWSPAPERS report that “TRNC” plated busses crossed to the south for the first time on Saturday, June 18. Seven buses, which were allowed to cross, went to Hala Sultan Tekke. It is reported however that G/C car insurance companies at the Ay Demetios checkpoint did not accept to issue insurance for the buses as the representative of Cyprus Higher Risk Pool company which issued insurances for buses was not present at the checkpoint. After waiting for three hours at the checkpoint, T/C passengers protested the G/C police for not allowing the buses to cross. The passengers stepped down from buses and hindered a G/C tourist bus from crossing the checkpoint. Seeing this, the G/C police told the group that they would allow them to cross. The police escorted the buses to Hala Sultan.

What a shame.

I take it you mean that the fact that they wouldn't let the buses cross in the first place is the 'shame', not that they eventually did let them cross...?

Insurance glitch holds up pilgrims
By Stefanos Evripidou

SEVEN coaches and over 300 hundred Turkish Cypriots were delayed for three hours yesterday at Ayios Dhometios checkpoint, waiting to cross over from the north to visit Hala Sultan Tekke mosque on Larnaca’s Salt Lake.

The coaches, filled with 350 Turkish Cypriot pilgrims from the north, Australia and Britain, arrived at the checkpoint at 7am.

Police refused to let the coaches pass, as it appeared the vehicles did not have insurance to transport a large number of people. Their insurance was limited to the transfer of eight people at a time.

According to Cyprus News Agency (CNA), an insurance company was called to provide adequate insurance to the buses with Turkish Cypriot number plates.

However, after two hours it transpired the insurance company was not going to turn up at Ayios Dhometios checkpoint. The police offer to escort the buses to their destination was rejected by the drivers.

Over 100 passengers got off the coaches and made their own way to Larnaca using Greek Cypriot buses, according to CNA.

Eventually, the Turkish Cypriot drivers agreed to allow police to escort them to Larnaca and at around 10am, the seven coaches carrying 235 passengers made their way to the mosque. Five Turkish nationals were barred from crossing south .

Main Source- Such an ironic name.

What information do you get in London about the Cyprus problem here in Nicosia? Reading the Sun times or walking along HighStreet?

Oh yeah, I forgot from your perch in London, you see into the Turkish Army. While I am actually here with British soldiers guarding sector 1 and 4.

Keep on checking my information, it is good for the forum. I have met professional assholes before, believe me, you ain't shit.

and i've seen how one sided your posts are. Your part of an organisation that fucked up the island (American and British) and seen your views on issues such as the invasion of Iraq. Subsequently, i'd never trust a dick with corrupt ideologies such as yours.

Main, is there friendship in the international relations? Wait until we have an overarching hegemon. U.S. pretends to be, but we all know how hegemon it is
