5. should Cyprus become liKe USA and opperate a State system with a Central Government
I would say a relatively weak central government, that operates foreign affairs, inner security, international relations. Taxes for instance should be regulated by the federal states (also in order to give business incentives in the north).
This weaker Federal government concept might work, but maintaining the 1 to 4 ratio would be difficult.Main_Source wrote:
As for the flag, I like the current one (which was designed by a TC) but if it must be changed then they should keep the current colours but maybe redesign it. I dont think it should have any blue or red on it.
Psychologically, I dont think GC could accept the red of Turkey on their flag as it would be a basic representation of the Ottoman occupation. As for the blue...well I supposed something similar could be said with TC, I dont know.

Not in the sense of them helping any more than they do with other EU states...you should not integrate an institution like the Eu which might not be everlasting. What happens if it goes?the State needs to be able to operate by itself without outside interdferance...look at the treaty of Guarentee!!!

Just on this point Dhavlos, the EU is already intimately involved in how Cypriot state institutions operate. As Cyprus adopted each chapter of the acquis, EU legislation became interwoven with existing domestic legislation, or was transcribed in place of existing (and non-existent) statutes. A recent study by Neill Nugent (2003) estimated that approximately 60% of policies traditionally the realm of nation-states is now subject to EU involvement, and a 1996 study by Schmitter found that in 24 major policy areas, none were exposed to national decision-making processes alone. Therefore, integration has already taken place, the door is open and the horse has bolted. As a result, unless the EU disintegrates and its legal framework is consigned by states to the dustbin of history, Cyprus will never again be the master of its own affairs, nor will any country within the EU or on its close periphery.
Demilitarise. If possible, Including the British
