I don’t know but I can predict what you’ll be fighting for this week the way things are going…

... some common sense to come your way?

What's the matter missing Paphitis?

They fought for King and Country & Empire, like many Cypriots did. I doubt that Enosis was on their minds.

Deniz ... the research is proving very interesting

The claim was that Cypriots only enlisted because they were promised Enosis!

(However ... must stop now as I am getting behind with you-know-what!)

Maybe not necessarily Enosis O. There was also the joint declaration by Roosevelt and Churchill which was known as the Atlantic Pact of 1941 which proclaimed

''the right of all peoples to choose the form of Government under which they will live......to see sovereign rights and self Government restored to those who have been forcibly deprived of them''

This would have been seen by many colonies which were committing troops and other resources to the war effort as the green light for independence.

However after only a month Chuchill backtracked and said this was only meant to mean countries under Nazi occupation

I offer this as a possible alternative scenario to the Enosis theory as to why maybe TCs would also commit themselves alongside GCs in the Cyprus Regiment plus the obvious answer of them fighting against fascism and the nazi tyranny

I remember an old family friend telling me once that joined up in Cyprus to serve in WW2. I suggested that he was probably a bit too young , he said "I was, but I was bloody hungry too, we knew we would be fed in the army"

BTW Richard do you know anyone who has just been banned from that bastion of free speech Cyprus44

From GR!'s first link ....

Even after separate Turkish-Cypriot Unions were established in 1944, many Turkish-Cypriot workers refused to leave the unions to which their Greek-Cypriot fellow workers belonged, despite the pressures exerted on them by Turkish - Cypriot nationalists

Now why would they choose this time of greatest weakness (near the end of the war, with loss of life and more volunteers leaving) to set up, the first break-away Trade Unions?

PEO had 2000 Turkish-Cypriot members, a number equal to those belonging to Turkish-Cypriot unions.

That was a 50% split wanting to segregate themselves away from the GCs ...

Was this the first real sign the TCs wanted their own Administration?

Just as there were Turkish Nationalists, the Greek Cypriots also had their treasonous Greek nationalists like YOU.

Both turned out to be foreign-serving cockroaches who ruined Cyprus, and that's why this time round the real Cypriots (me & Co) must ensure that you do not see the light of day! :D

The hostilities between the two communities restarted only when the TCs started to cooperate again with the foreign Imperialists (UK/Turkey) in order to regain Ottoman style privileges for themselves on the expense of all other Cypriots.

The historical facts show that the Cypriot people are forgiving people and do not seek revenge for things that happened in the past, but are also people who appreciate democracy and human rights and are always willing to fight against those who are trying to deprive them from these rights.

Was that the same democracy and human rights you dished out during 1963 and 1974?

You and the British did not allow democracy and human rights. On the contrary you forced a system which was based on segregation and racist discrimination, which naturally failed.

Only because you held a gun to my head, burnt down my home, discriminated against us and kidnapped and killed us....safety in numbers ever heard of that? Do you think we wanted to live in squaller, people will think that it was Butlins and you were the blue coats dishing out positive democracy...far from it you made our lives hell on earth. Time you admitted that your actions were the cause of todays division but you are so blind that your mindset will ensure this island is divided for many more years to come.

In regards to Oracle, to this day we are yet to see any sign of compassion against any TC, even a 16 day old baby. She is blinded by her hate and fascist views to an extent beyond repair. Out of everyone on this forum I'd have to say that O's logic scares the crap out of me.

Tend to agree with you here - we are dealing with a mindset that is so so dangerous.

At last someone can see the dangers Oracle and Piratis are 2 perfect examples of the mindset you will be exposed to in a united Cyprus. They will cause your death and have no problems putting the blame on anyone but themselves....we TCs have to be so careful GCs are dangerous and will also place us and our future in danger at every opportunity.

History proves that we GCs are very forgiving and we only fight back when we are attacked and there is an attempt to deprive us from our human and democratic rights.

It is you who encourages aggression and attacks against innocent people for the sole reason of imposing on them by force your minority opinion and gain Ottoman style privileges on the expense of everybody else.

Is that how GCs fight back killing and burying a 16 month old baby?
