While the brutal Ottoman rule had ended just a couple of decades earlier, the Greek Cypriots did not seek any revenge against the TCs, but on the contrary they cooperated more and more with them (although the British did not exactly encourage this).

The hostilities between the two communities restarted only when the TCs started to cooperate again with the foreign Imperialists (UK/Turkey) in order to regain Ottoman style privileges for themselves on the expense of all other Cypriots.

The historical facts show that the Cypriot people are forgiving people and do not seek revenge for things that happened in the past, but are also people who appreciate democracy and human rights and are always willing to fight against those who are trying to deprive them from these rights.

Was that the same democracy and human rights you dished out during 1963 and 1974?

You and the British did not allow democracy and human rights. On the contrary you forced a system which was based on segregation and racist discrimination, which naturally failed.

In regards to Oracle, to this day we are yet to see any sign of compassion against any TC, even a 16 day old baby. She is blinded by her hate and fascist views to an extent beyond repair. Out of everyone on this forum I'd have to say that O's logic scares the crap out of me.

Tend to agree with you here - we are dealing with a mindset that is so so dangerous.

At last someone can see the dangers Oracle and Piratis are 2 perfect examples of the mindset you will be exposed to in a united Cyprus. They will cause your death and have no problems putting the blame on anyone but themselves....we TCs have to be so careful GCs are dangerous and will also place us and our future in danger at every opportunity.

History proves that we GCs are very forgiving and we only fight back when we are attacked and there is an attempt to deprive us from our human and democratic rights.

It is you who encourages aggression and attacks against innocent people for the sole reason of imposing on them by force your minority opinion and gain Ottoman style privileges on the expense of everybody else.

We have heard of British promises before. It must be documented somewhere. Perhaps it was wishful thinking on the Cypriots (GC) part.

We lost our great Uncle ALI as well in this war.

what i heard from my family , most of them join the army to get money for their families . I don't think it was for her majesty queen or other related arguments .
My uncle daughter Lütfiye still in life now .She didn't see her father at all .Her mum was pragnent to her when he join the army to get money for their living ...

Exactly what T/cs did in 1956- just joined British occupators forces (as policemen) just for money/surviving - of course we (personally i do not) blame them because starving is a very difficult situation and not so many can affort.On this base i can not blame T/cs but always the big master "Ankara". The only point is that T/cs could showed a resistance claiming their official Cyprus state citizenship but unfortunately nationalists (their end) just asked them to move North.

Maybe not necessarily Enosis O. There was also the joint declaration by Roosevelt and Churchill which was known as the Atlantic Pact of 1941 which proclaimed

''the right of all peoples to choose the form of Government under which they will live......to see sovereign rights and self Government restored to those who have been forcibly deprived of them''

This would have been seen by many colonies which were committing troops and other resources to the war effort as the green light for independence.

However after only a month Chuchill backtracked and said this was only meant to mean countries under Nazi occupation

I offer this as a possible alternative scenario to the Enosis theory as to why maybe TCs would also commit themselves alongside GCs in the Cyprus Regiment plus the obvious answer of them fighting against fascism and the nazi tyranny
