Should be true but we both know not in fact. So if it were true you are right that it should be be fine fpr the TCs to reject Turkey, but given that it is mainly the nationalist fringe in most EU countries that discriminate or advocate discrimination and there is little that is done to stop it in Italy, Hungary, Greece and elsewhere how can the TCs feel that they will be fairly treated in a United Cyprus Republic with the attitudes of some to the parties in the government of the RoC?

Any discrimination is between individuals and punishable.

I agree the TCs would be like those nationalist elements that are in the minority and demand special recognition and rights ... but on the whole because they are in the minority, normality reigns in a democracy ...

Of course state discrimination is punishable and there are clear Laws and EU directives against it. It's straight-forward to take a legitimate government through the Courts, if anyone has a genuine case.

But the GCs (who suffer discrimination) have been very understanding with the RoC to which they pay their taxes. It must be hard to see your money handed out as freebie benefits to TCs who do not contribute.
