41%of CYPRIOTS HAVENT VOTE IN EUS ELLECTIONS
THAT SHOWS THAT A BIG PART OF CYPRIOTS
ARE OR EUROSCEPTICS OR DONT CARE
FOR DESICIONS WHO IN DAYLLY LIFE TUTCH THEM
MENY LAWS ARE STRAIT FROM EU PARLLIAMENT
AND NOT FROM NICOSIA THE SO CALLED DIRECTIVES
SO WHO IS THE LOOSER?
I THOTE THAT CYPRIOTS HAVE SET THEM HOPES
IN EU FOR A SOLUTION OF ISSUE.....
BUT EUROSCEPTICISM TOOK PLACE
NOW WHAT CAN BE THE REASONS?
WHO KNOWS?

Can you stop typing in all caps?? :? The reason for the low turnout is that the result would not change. AKEL and DISY would elect 2 MEPs and EDEK and DIKO 1. And because Monday is public holiday many people went for 3day holidays out of the cities.

Cyprus is not the only country with a poor turnout. This just tells us that at the citizen level, the EU is a fiction of the imagination...

That might prove the highest turnout yet ...

Last time around in 2004, turnout in the UK was 38% and in the Netherlands 39%.

Actually the main reason that European citizens ae not voting is that they do not realise that EU Parliament ,in many subjects, is much more important than their own government/parliament. Many decisions affecting our daily life (Particularly financial policies) are isued in EU and not locally.

Second point is the different targets each country has out of its membership.Lets say British may not vote in purpose as result of their government clear anti-European policy , trying to have a Europe dealing only with financil matters and noting more (defence/foreign policy etc).

Here the reason is that many stupid politicians are in the political scene at the same time.

epsilon you havent realise yet...That meny laws =directives
goes strate from europarlament to EUs cauntries
and them gov have to follow those directives
so meny laws who efect your daylly life
starting from financial sectory and go.... moon..
those laws are over national gov of any eu member state
so if dont vote.. others vote when is not a minimum% for vote numbers for results
and this means that ...... extremists can be the moste% in europarlament
and loosers are those who haven be activated...
cypriots must demand more from eu for solution of issue
but this need activation...in full scale
