If Cyprus Re-United...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

most TCs speak greek anyway it seems.

Only the older generation T.Cs can speak Greek, if they were living in mixed villages or working with G.Cs. Many T.Cs. who were living in Limassol couldn't speak Greek for example. And you can hardly find Greek speaking T.Cs who were born after 60s.

A few nights ago I was watching on TV a report from a village in the occupied areas. Its TC inhabitants were all fluent in Greek. The most amazing thing of all though was that even their kids could understand it just as well.

Why do I sense that some in this forum regard any knowledge of the Greek language by TCs as an "insult" or even a "threat"?

where did u make that assumption?

as for the younger generations not knowing Greek...well even if there parents are fluent, when did they hear it? What would the agents of Denktash or Turkey do if they heard them speaking in Greek conversations between one another?

Your sense is baseless. Neither in this forum nor in TC community anyone considers knowing Greek an insult. On the contrary, many TCs consider knowing Greek as very advantageous nowadays, especially after borders opened. I myself want to learn Greek at some point. However, I can easily say less GCs are interested in learning Turkish than TCs wanting to learn Greek. This is based on my observation when I was in Cyprus a few weeks ago.

Murtaza I mean Georgia of ex USSR. I don't know if they are called Lazs. These people speak all sorts of languages, Greek, Russian, Turkish....

Everybody have to talk to langauge what he want.

Of course. Nobody said anyone should be forced to speak a language he does not want to.
My opinion is that in Cyprus the GCs must learn Turkish at school and the TCs must learn Greek. Learning is a "gift". Nobody is harmed by learning something at school.

Othellos, this is BS. Nobody considers knowing Greek as an insult. On contrary, they see it as an advantage. I wish I could speak Greek!

As you said, I know some Greek, because I was interested in learning it. I had some Greek friends and they taught me some. Also my aunt knows Greek and she taught me some too, but my knowledge is not enough to engage in a conversation with a Greek.
