If Cyprus Re-United...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Yiannis » Mon Jun 20, 2005 9:27 pm

As for the language issue, I have some stories to tell which I think prove the point that GCs do not really care about learning Turkish and furthermore they expect TCs to know Greek just because the majority of Cypriots speak Greek.

I dont get the point of this whole conversation.
IT IS THE THE RIGHT OF EVERYONE TO LEARN WHATEVER LANGUAGE HE/SHE WANTS.
If most of the GCs dont want to learn Turkish doesnt make them bad at all. Now if they insist that TCs should learn Greek then stupid is whoever takes their words seriously.

Yiannis we are just discussing pre 1974 language issues but now anyone can learn whatever language they want out of freewill not because of necessisty, many TCs and GCs are learning Greek or Turkish out of interest .

Stop crying wolf Piratis, some 40 years ago GCs were plotting to get rid of TCs, just swallow your pride and accept the weaker of the 2 commumities whipped your arse and took a third of the island. Look at this way, maybe the current situation is payment for the period 1960 to 1974 when your community took and benefited from a developing and growing "RoC" and we were reduced to a minority thrown out of government, living in poverty and under persecution.

I'm sorry but someone who consistantly posts crap like this needs to feel a real arse-whipping...not with the help of American tanks and a foregn army...but just me and the heal of my shoe.

and VP...before you start manipulating what I say, it's not all TC I want to feel a real a real arse-whipping...its ignorant, lieing, malicious little assholes like you.

Yiannis,

The problem is not language. I passed to south many times as well and I realised that people start talking in greek immediately although they know that we are TC. They think that we should be able to speak in greek. The problejm lies in the reasons of this kind of thinking.

25!!!!!
Now your views make even less sense!! Why do you have so much anger? You are like the Aviril Levine of the forum, always pissed-off and mad at something or someone.

The CIA has bigger issues here in Cyprus than one angry G/C.

You can go back to fearing the Turkish Army, not the US or the CIA.

Detailer, that's what I've observed in South too. People speak Greek eventhough they know we are T.Cs. A friend of mine had once passed to South to go to the hospital. A G.C started speaking Greek to him. He said he doesn't understand Greek. The guy's reply was "you SHOULD learn Greek if you want to live in Cyprus".

Here's another story. We were stopped by the Greek policewoman at the border in Agios Demetios (Ay demet). She knew we were driving a car with TRNC plate. She kept saying something in Greek and I replied her in Turkish. Then she realised (!) we cannot speak Greek and switched to English. Can't really understand the mentality of SOME GCs.

When I see a GC in north, I never think speaking to him in turkish.
Most of those people know english but still keep on speaking greek.
