FM LASHES OUT AT GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE

TC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has said that recent initiatives launched by the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianu during a recent visit to Syria, once again demonstrated the Greek Cypriot Administration’s intolerance and hostile attitude towards the Turkish Cypriot people.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that such attempts to further isolate the Turkish Cypriot people only served to damage efforts to build confidence between the two sides in Cyprus.

In a statement issued, the TRNC Foreign Minister pointed out that that the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Marcos Kyrprianu had launched an initiative with Syrian authorities to stop ferry services between Gazimagusa(Famagusta) and Latakia.(Lazkiye)

The Foreign Minister stressed that Kyprianu’s efforts were clear proof that the Greek Cypriot Administration had no intention of ending its policies aimed at preventing Turkish Cypriots from establishing relations with third countries.

He also said such attempts carried out at a time when the two leaders were conducting negotiations aimed at settling the Cyprus Problem and building confidence between the two sides showed that the Greek Cypriot Side had no intention of solving the Cyprus Problem or creating a new partnership state.

“The failure of the Greek Cypriot Side to take a single step towards easing the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people demonstrates its intolerance towards Turkish Cypriots” he added.

Ozgurgun also pointed out that such attempts carried out while full-fledged talks were still continuing, not only damaged efforts to build confidence between the two sides but also served to heighten tensions on the island.

“The Greek Cypriot Administration should know that the Turkish Cypriot people not only have other alternatives but will not remain silent in the face of such disappointing and ill intended initiatives”, Ozgurgun said.

It's a passenger ferry not a bloody cargo ship or are you participating in the slave trade. You can trade through the ROC but your "government" is too bloody minded to allow it.

Here it is what goes on Human trafficking

TURKISH CYPRIOT HUMAN RIGHTS FOUNDATION IS SPONSORING A 3 DAY CONFERENCE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Human trafficking is being highlighted this week with a 3-day event in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The event is sponsored by the Turkish Cypriot Human Rights Foundation, the British High Commission and the U.S. Embassy with the participation of the Near East University.

The 3-day event is devoted to combating trafficking of human beings and is being organized under the theme of 'Combating Human Trafficking: Time to Act'.

It kicked off at the Near East University this morning. The opening speech was delivered by the President of the Turkish Cypriot Human Rights Foundation- Emine Erk who said human trafficking is a crime and shame, and a violation of human rights too.

The President of the Turkish Cypriot Women Solidarity Council-First Lady Oya Talat for her part said it is possible to provide a solution to human trafficking through national and international coordination.

Mrs. Talat noted that the cooperation between the two parts of Cyprus carries great importance in fighting against human trafficking on the island.

She however stated that it is not that easy to take effective initiatives on human trafficking in North Cyprus while the international isolation continues.

She stressed the need for making use of internatioanl funds.

“Turkish Cypriots have a bitter past on migration. When people migrate from one place to another, human traders make a good use of this opportunity. Turkish Cypriots who experienced the bitter past should share that experience with the youth. Public awareness is essential in order to avoid war, migration and human trafficking” Oya Talat said.
