The down-to-earth Demetri known for his signature tattoo the Cyprus motif, etched to his chest, had told listeners on LGR.
"I can't believe two podgy fellas from Winchmore Hill are in the FINAL!"
The lad's roll out the genuine laughs and the father-and-son relationship is great.
Demetrious Demetriou and Lagi aka Stavros Flatley will be upping the ante on Britain’s Got Talent.
"We've got some special moves (new) for the final. It's a mix of Greek and Irish, special dancers will join us."
The unique act blends the Lord of the Dance and Sirtaki.
The biggest vote of confidence is Michael Flatley for his unequivocal support. Mr Flatley comments: "Demetrios and Lagi's family spirit is something that has touched everyone and is to be much admired."
It's a giggle had insisted Demetri, who works as an electrician contractor. He quit his popular Greek Sirtaki restaurant almost eight years ago, but his cabaret character Stavros never left his side. A really nice quote from the 41-year-old Demetri is this: "The tube at Bounds Green, we get on, the train-driver came over the radio and said... 'Stavros Flatley is on the train!"
The pair have flown the Cypriot flag these past two months. The first audition on April 11 was truly breathtaking, for the surprise and the blonde wigs! The UK Greek-Cypriots had swelled with pride. The patriotic sentiment might explain the instinctive voting behaviour from Battersea to Palmers Green. Kypreos busy on the line!
"If I could pay everyone who voted (I would)" Demetri jostled with the audience.
The duo go into the final as the underdogs albeit fourth in the betting - behind Susan Boyle. But could the over-exposure for the long-time favourite reap a few extra votes for Stavros Flatley?
Demetrios, 41, and Michalakis Andreas (aka Lagi) Demetriou, 13, live in Enfield, with wife Karen, 39 and daughter Elle, 11.
