Turkey reacts to oil-exploration news in Cyprus
ISTANBUL - Turkey yesterday reacted to the news that an American firm will start oil exploration in the southwest part of the island of Cyprus.

The Foreign Ministry released a statement saying, “Actions such as these that lack legal basis and that carry a potential for creating tension are hurting the rights of the Turkish Cypriots to the natural resources of the island.”

They would not start a war with America. Even they know how far to push it. They have refined the technique to an art. And ofcourse the American will not back down because they refined THAT technique to an art.

Americans are not likely to let anyone else to control oil finds in the area, especially not the Russians who are the next ones in line if the Americans refuse the exploitation.

whats irks me about this .... is that the oil exploration is strictly within Cyprus's off shore zone. Has nothing to do with TC's or anyone else living in the occupied area.
