Sandy, double-coated dogs are NOT supposed to be in any environment with temperatures above 30C... (and that's the max top limit)
Here in Cyprus we get to have close to 30C during tha night sometimes, so you can imagine that the poor dog will not be at its best.
However, the heat WON'T kill it and there are many things you can do to make his life better. I have a black Labrador Retriever (also double-coated) and we have arranged our program in that way that will provide a better life for both. The walks take place at around 07:00 and after 19:00 where there is no "overheated" sun and our mid-day walks are always "accompanied" by a water-spray bottle.
Apart from that, and owning a Lab, we spend most of our time in the sea...!!!
