Postby MaJesTiC » Thu May 28, 2009 4:38 pm

Hi all. I have one question. Can I become an UN soldier in Cyprus. I was proffessional soldier in my country for 2 years. My country is in EU and UN. Where can I apply, and what kind of documents i need.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peacekeeping You should be in the army to be able to join the UN peacekeeping forces.

... or if you really want to spend two years on the cease-fire line, volunteer for the CY National Guard mate.

You need to be a serving soldier and apply through your own regiment. Most countries offer secondment, but there is a process to go through and alot of competition.
I have served with the UN in Bosnia, not a nice tour and not a good experience.

If you don't know I'll tell you. That I don't like Turkish, even I "LOVE" them, because Bulgaria my country was 500 years under Turkish slavery. 500 years they kill us, they rape our womans, and fire our houses. How You think, Do I want to go in Turkish army ?

p.s
I think it's OK now.

Anyone can apply via the standard channels at the UN headquarters I suppose but I doubt you get to choose your final posting!

The UN does not have an Army, member states will supply troops as requested, just look at the small flags on uniforms which denotes the country of origin
