GC "Man with a mission" persecuted by GC

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby metecyp » Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:21 pm

Metecyp, have you actually read the Akritas plan? The Akritas plan was everything else except a plan aiming or projecting at the annihilation of the TC community or the authorisation of murders or atrocities or even torturing of TCs. Read the version that is posted in the Cyprus-conflict website because in some Turkish sides there are parts purposely cut off so that they give a misleading impression.

This is a bold statement and I shall reread the Akritas plan and talk about this later. I remember Klerides also had a reference to Akritas plan in his book, I will try to read his book as well and see what he says about the plan.

although it is real and very true

I believe that is true Viewpoint and i also saw Agastiniotis documentary. But would you expect someone grown up in a common GC biased knowledge to believe him too, knowing that he has been strongly supported by the TC side and also given a house to live in??

it doesnt matter if you read it or not metecyp. the fact remains that you have been poisoned with a ton of misinformation and you will never change your opinion. It's as simple as that.

kifeas

never have i attempted nor i believe the vast majority of tc attempted to belittle the numbers of innocent gcs killed during the invasion.

I hope ive made that clear on several occasions, and so have many other tc posters. Yes we do know, and we are aware.

My last visit to Cyprus was by ferry from Southern Turkey to Girne. As the ferry approached from maybe a mile or so out I could clearly see the houses on the mountain slopes, and understood that at four a.m. these houses and their inhabitants must have been sitting targets for the turkish off shore bombing that preceded the troop landings. Many innocent gc’s probably got bombed to pieces in their sleep- yes I do appreciate that fact.

I try to put myself in their shoes – the panic – the expectation placed on me. Would I run? would I stay and fight? – what would I have done with my family – would they have left without me? The obvious thing would be to get my family into my car, or any car and get out as soon as possible – but I doubt if things were really that simple.

It must have been I hell – this I accept, and respect your innocent sufferings, and i do mean that sincerely

I write this respectfully-

Again with respect may I ask what Sampson was going to do to us, had Turkey not intervened? Again i repeat I ask this respectfully.

honest answers only please

Very simple Gebaston, nobody knows. Is war the only way Turkey could have solved the problem though?Personally i believe Samson will have never been able to accomplish his aim if Turkey didnt invade.

Gebaston do u believe that GCs today aim at extinguishing the TCs?Are you afraid that we will start killing you again in a future solution?I'm just wondering.

You're wrong magikthrill. I learned a lot in this forum and I consider myself a flexible person in terms of ideas. I don't know how you concluded that I'm "poisoned" with misinformation. It's true that I was raised in an environment where TC views were dominant but after living abroad for 6 years, and after talking to GCs and reading about Cyprus from other sources, I consider myself having a good understanding of different perspectives in Cyprus problem. I even read parts of Klerides' book to get an idea of how GCs feel and think about Cyprus problem. Did you ever try to read a TC book? Like Denktash for example?

actually the book i am currnetly reading Cyprus: A Troubled Island has many refernces to Denkatash's Cyprus Triangle. He says nothing I don't know already.

I've also spent (or rather wasted) time reading the trncgov.com issue on the matters which not only chooses to display certain aspects of the situation but also lies abou some issues.

That is a very good question.
The answer quite simply is no I do not believe that gc will try killing tcs. I doubt that in light of the past thirty years and Gc entry into the Eu that the conditions will ever allow that to happen.

In further addressing your question about my fears for tcs from gc’s I believe that there is still a great resentment towards tc’s from some not all I repeat some gcs, that will seek revenge. Maybe thirty per cent. I also fear that in a combined society that gc will dominate tc economic growth, and try to return to the Makarios type regime where, Gc enterprise is actively encouraged, and tc enterprise is shall we say hindered.
Please don’t get me wrong in London most of my friends are gc more so than tc. I have the same debate with them as I do on this forum and afterwards we are still good friends. From them I get the impression that most of them just want to live in peace with us in an independent cyprus, with no ties to Greece. I get the impression that none of them actually knew what we went through and some are totally speechless when I tell about the attack on my village Kofinou.

However from this forum I get the impression that some gcs still maintain a gc superiority attitude towards Cyprus, and whilst tcs are willing to share Cyprus Gc’s are not so ready to abandon their claim for a greek dominated Cyprus.

I hope that answers your question about my fears – I do not speak for all tc’s but these are my straight answers to your straight question.

Now may I have a straight answer

Have you ever spent your entire teenage years in a deprived tc enclave, afraid to leave and spending your best years in a backward no-hope hole. Can you imagine a future without opportunity for the young. Under the Makarios regime, an entire tc generation endured this whilst their gc counterparts were given every opportunity for self betterment. What future did these have other than the wish to leave Cyprus altogether.

I believe that became a key part of The Makarios way of dealing with the tc problem..ethnic cleansing by neglect. no murders - no blame, had that same regime still been in power i believe our numbers today may well have been one in six or seven, tcs without a future would have had little choice but to leave..........

The debate on this subject started on Angastiniotis film that describes GC atrocities that most people now acknowledge they took place. The GC's of the forum tried to capitalise on this by pointing out that even on this respect we are superior, that is, here is a GC that can actually speak his mind and in a sense say the truth, but, where is the TC Angastiniotis that will reveal atrocities commited by the TC's? As I said before, this is not the issue, even if Sevgul has written on numerous occasions of the plight of the GC's. By the way, in Arediou village, three young Turkish Cypriots were taken from their homes by the police and no one has seen them since. This is state sponsored terrorism Kifeas, and it is another example of government sponsored murders. In 1963 many paramilitary groups sprung, created by Makarios men and blessed by Makarios. They included paramilitarists of Yiorkatzis and Papadopoulos, Sampson and socialfascist Lyssarides. They went on a killing spree in a number of villages and communities. Papadopoulos eveb threatened to clean all TC's in 1 hour and 45 minutes. In those times, it was considered an act of bravery to kill a Turk. No one was ever convicted or arrested or brought to justice for murders of innocent TC's. The killings were done by members of the "Organisation" that is Akritas, many of whom were ex EOKA men and even school students had pistols that they brought to classes. Let me give you an example that illustrates the lunacy at the time. In early 1964 a pupil was playing with his pistol in Ay. Kasianos Gymnasium when the piece fired accidentally. The bullet passed right through the soft tissue of his leg and also injured another pupil. The event was quickly covered up and the next day, Sampson's daily "Machi" came up with the following heading: "Two heroic Greek pupils fall victim to turkish snipers". These morons who inflicted the injuries to themselves became instant heroes. Had they managed to kill a Turk they would have probably gained sainthood!

It is also very wrong to claim that TC's did nothing to expose the murderers of their community. In fact, quite a number of them did exactly this and paid a heafty penalty for doing so. Many of them were murdered by TMT or forced to emigrate to UK mainly. So, at least you can show some respect to these people that gave their lives for a vision, of a Cyprus free of chauvinism and nationalism, for a Cyprus for its people. Is there anyone that can seriously claim that Cyprus has not fallen victim of the nationalists from both communities? Apart from Kifeas is there anyone that cannot see the role played by Papadopoulos in the turbulent times of the 60's, when, according to Drousiotis, the first partition was cemented?

Actually Bananiot this is what Agastiniotis said that expects out of his documentary. His aim was and i hope will be to cause TCs to do the same on their side.
By the way if anyone has links can i have any sources of TC or GC testimonies blaming their sides.
By the way Bananiot before u start attacking me i do respect what Agastiniotis did and im not at all trying to blame TC and raise GC as the good ones.
