Eroglu believs he wil not be in disharmony with Talat

Postby halil » Wed May 27, 2009 6:32 pm

Dervis Eroglu has expressed the belief that he will not be in disharmony with Talat.
He also said his main aim is to make the government functioning successfully, not to become President.
Speaking to the TAK news agency, Eroglu reiterated the determination over including a government representative at the negotiations committee of Talat saying the government will propose a name for the representative at this week’s meeting.
Eroglu also said there is not a huge difference in practice between President Talat’s expressions and his party’s demand concerning the Cyprus issue.
Evaluating his government’s attitude over the Immovable Property Commission which was established when the UBP was the opposition the Eroglu said they opposed the establishment of the Commission and applied to the Constitutional Court but the court had decided against this appeal.

‘Therefore the Commission will continue to work in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and Local Administrations’ he added.

Referring to the negotiations process that is taking place, Mr. Eroglu said although the issue of a bizonal federation is being discussed, the demands seem to be for a confederation.

‘What’s important is when you are talking about a bizonal, bicommunal solution based on political equality, what do these consist of exactly’, he asked.

‘There really isn’t much of a difference between my party’s views and President Talat’s stance at the negotiating table’, said Eroglu.

Noting that a federation can only be established between two equal partners, the Prime Minister said ‘there is a big difference in the national income between the two peoples on the island’.

Explaining that the existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is strengthening the Turkish Cypriot Side’s hand at the negotiations table, Mr. Eroglu said there is no other choice than to keep the existence of the TRNC in case of a failure to reach a conclusion in peace talks.

Re halil, what eroglu chooses to do with talat has about as much impact on the cyprus problem as me choosing to use pink toilet paper instead of white today.

It is neither Erdogan nor the people who elected him who will vote in the referandum coming out of Christofias` talks with Talat; rather it is Talat and the people who elected him.

Who are we kidding? Neither talat nor eroglu are in any position to make a deal, nor to refuse a deal put to them by ankara.

And neither are your minority tc community in the occupied areas and your majority settler population. They will have to do as they're told. If they don't then the vote will have to be "amended"
