An Istanbul court is hearing a case against a Turkish author who is accused of insulting Islam in his latest book.
Nedim Gursel faces up to three years in prison if found guilty of charges of "humiliating religious values" and "inciting religious hatred" in his novel "The Daughters of Allah."
Gursel, who is based in France, is the latest intellectual to be prosecuted in Turkey under laws that restrict free-speech.
