The Cypriot identity is a myth

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Defend is on your rutes, culture, education, mentality. If all these are same-under your famous Cyprus Ethnos, with Turks of Cyprus and settlers, then you just became a piece of Ankara policy.Pls study Turks way of negotiations and get lessons. Ask to give the holly land in order you get a piece of land!!wake up and stop supporting Ankara's targets.Declare yourselve as Greek , demanding your rights. We have lost a war!!!!realize this fact repeat fact and start to think that the victim can not be soft on requests because the invator just want you to be so. Loosing Greece support because of stupid politicians here, we are just alone. Alone against a Giant - keep saying that you are different from the invator just to save what can be saved until history change river and find the stairs to our freedom. Till then stuck on what we are, because if freedom find us similar/same to invators and their co-operators means nothing. they will just win the final fight!!!

Keep your Hellenism deep in your hard, fack Greece state and other fanatics dreams/ just keep the Hellenism with you as the last chance you/me all of us,someday to be trully free. We are fighting for this freedom so many years and finally the worst enemy to our freedom proved to be people (our people) with limited understanding of what actually the game about Cyprus is.

I'm definetely Greek, and at the same time I was born in Nicosia, I support APOEL and Panathinaikos, I have an X profession, I have finished Y school, and I belong to Z generation etc, so I have a Greek, a cypriot, a Nicosian, an APOEL and Pahathinaikos as well as an X, Y and Z identity all at the same time. However I belong to the Greek nation, full stop.

So the idea of a Cypriot identity is not a myth. It's a reality just as the Cretan, Athenian, or Dodecanesian identity is. Someone can identify oneself as Greek and Cretan at the same time, just as I am Greek and Cypriot at the same time. However we are talking about two separate kinds of identity, the one is national the other is regional.

Actually I am old enough to have been offered one in village coffee shops. Just because something happened in a village near our home doesn't make it "Cypriot" though, does it (it's a turkish delight marketed in separate plastic wraps).

Simple ...

The probability that I’ll start taking advice on such matters from a half-baked "Cypriot" mongrel is ZERO.

HALF BAKED CYPRIOT MONGREL !!!!
Hey I first called her a mongrel !

You two need to be taught same manners! Miltiades your daughter and son are both half's are they not?

I know, it sounds odd.

Being Greek is not bound to place or location. Some people believe that in order to be Greek you have to be from Greece. I am Greek, I have never been to Greece, nor to I want to go and on that note most Greeks have never been to Greece.

Why do you never want to go to Greece?

Simple really ....

Greeks are no citizens of Greece. Are Jews citizens of Israel? Nope, being Greek is not bound to place.

Take a look at this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeks

You will notice that being Greek is lot limited to living in Greece.

I agree, just as Greeks can be Cypriot citizens ... and are certainly the majority citizens of Cyprus (as are the majority citizens of Greece). But generically, I think you mean Hellenic ... :?

I mean Greek. You cannot walk the streets and say you are Hellenic, but you can say you are Greek. Werever I go, wherever I am, I am still Greek, without a shadow of a doubt. I am not for Greece, not to I go for it's politics, but I am still Greek.

It's this Cypriot identity that that attempted to wash out what being Greek is. Prior to 74 people used to roam the streets and say "I am Greek", and our Turkish friends would say, and "I am Turkish". Now it seems that Greeks from Cyprus call themselves Cypriots, and Turkish-(Cypriots) are not within that Cypriot identity.

Cypriot identity is a myth, and the person who started this threat knows what he means.

I am Greek, my Turkish neighbor is Turkish, and the Arab and his Arab wife who had two children whilst living in Cyprus, have Cypriot children, but they are still Arabs, just like I am still Greek.

Golauzin means 'signpost' I think...

I dont think so , it sounds foreign to me , definitely not Cypriot !!

Where as "to", "kalo", "xwrio", "den" and "qelei" are definitely Cypriot!

How does it feel to wake up every morning and realise you are still an idiot?

Much better than waking up and realizing , as you do , that you are full of shit !
Where did you learn your Cypriot slang "kolaouzo " ?

I'd say waking up an idiot every morning would be worse.
