How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No prizes, but anybody care to hazard a guess (I will tell you later).

Please, put this misguided colonial master - strange 'colonial master' who obtains a residence permit from the RoC Immigration Department and pays income tax and VAT to the RoC tax authorities - out of his misery. Please tell me how to distinguish between the natives, because I do not know!

Sorry Tim, unless you believe Alexander the Great is somehow a direct descendent you will never be accepted by a certain section of the natives. And they also believe, with views like this, that they are 'European', nay sir, 'Hellenic'!

What exactly is your argument here? Can you tell me with supporting evidence what exactly you claim you are? Are you ethnically a Cypriot?

My parents are from Cyprus.

I was christened in an orthodox church. I cried apparently. I had no say in the matter. (I'd have cried more if I'd been circumcised no doubt).

DT. wrote:In fact don't even bother with supporting evidence, I'll accept whatever it is you're trying to prove here just quit posting Kypriakes paroimies and tell us something with a little substance.

Hey, I'm nation building... or you could even say re-building.

Ok forget it...

At least I've figured out what importance to place on your forum contributions from now on.

What's that supposed to mean?

Don't worry about it. I just have a classification system in my head on who to take seriously on this forum and who not to.

you ought to publish it sometime

French or British?

Ethnically or by Nationality?

They speak either English/French. They're Christian (Roman Catholic/Anglican). They love either cheddar/brie. They support either England/France in the world cup.

French or British?

British is not an ethnicity ... ask them if they want to forget their roots.

You are just proving the point that the term Cypriot is a political nationality ... whereas an ethnicity can be something else altogether.

And my response to you above has put me in the not-to-be-taken seriously category? Can't see why but so long as I'm not in the same category as Byron I can live with it.

Maybe you should speak to these guys for advice and to compare notes:

They're very sensitive you know. They get very upset if you deny them their Frenchness/Britishness.

I reject the term 'ethnicity'. It's all yours. Do whatever you want with it.

What do they know about the fair and legal acquisition of Nationalities?

I don't deny them anything. On the contrary, you deny them the right to hold on, also, to their ethnicity/culture. Or was "Africa" a Myth?

Unlike you, (and GR! etc) I am comfortable with the dual notion of having a political/geographical Nationality identifier, as well as a cultural/ ethnic identifier.

My life and theirs is richer for both ... not less.

It is you who is denying something of your make-up, not I, or them.

Would I have less rights under your government to call myself a Greek origin Cypriot? Or my son a Scot/Greek origin Cypriot? ....

Because at the moment, the RoC does not deny anyone a cultural identifier when it offers the Cypriot Nationality/citizenship.

I think it is you who is behaving like the BNP by forcing people to deny a very important Human acquired characteristic, that of ethnicity/culture.

Well then you have to remove your vragga  for that is an ethnicity meme.
