Leaving the forum

Postby CopperLine » Tue May 26, 2009 10:28 pm

I thought that I'd give notice that, after a little over two years, I'm leaving the Forum.

People have different reasons for participating in a Forum. My main interest was to learn and contribute to discussion of the 'Cyprus problem'. To some extent that has happened.

But I've been overwhelmed and appalled by the bilious hatred and racism that has dominated the forum recently. It was always there, peddled by a handful of some deeply disturbed and poisonous individuals, but it seems to have plumbed the depths of late. So long as the basic racist attitudes of hatred and contempt rules the knee-jerk responses of too many forum posters Cyprus will remain screwed.

I wish the best to denizaksulu, DT, insan, Jerry, umit07, shahmaran, billcobbett, kikapu, timdrayton, nikitas, even militiades and get real : you have an unenviable task of removing the poisonous bile from this fishbowl of the Cyprus problem.

PS I used as my signature Galileo Galilei's words - "I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn't learn something from him" Strictly speaking that maxim has held true in this forum; although loosen one of those terms ... and the maxim fails.

Thanks for ur best wishes to us, Copperline. The people's attitudes on this forum is the reflection of kind of people within Cypriots, Turks, Greeks and all others who one way or another contribute to these forums. It is a fact that the attitudes of some members of this forum r repulsive but that's reality; they exist among and around us.

Recently I don't post much abt Cyprus problem bcz as I've stated the game is over to me. There's no need for running around the same vicious circles again and again. I don't even attempt to counter the intentional, biased, propaganda purposed posts of some particilar forum members.

Regards

Usually sad to see anyone depart, I am pleased you are considering retiring (though seriously doubt you won't be participating in some other form).

Your posts have added very little to the sum total of knowledge and feelings (i.e. real Human emotions). You have merely wasted forumers time with nit-picking thread titles, semantics, lexicon and such like. Your inaccurate interpretations of legal matters disconcerting; your bias transparent, though sadly denied by you ... all lending you an air of cynical dishonesty.

Regardless of what you take away about Cyprus, I hope you have learnt that in order to get the most from people, you have to give something more than cold criticism.

I shall breath easier knowing you won't pounce to ruin an emotionally charged, heated debate between tuned interlocutors ... the mainstays of this forum ...

Goodbye, and I know you are female with copper-dye-coloured hair ....

BTW .... You must be really cut-up about the ECJ ruling  .... I guess we are going to see more hardliners like you, who hoped to stall justice for Cyprus for a bit longer, now leaving the forum, because they have nothing more to add with which to discourage us from following the right path ....

I can’t relate to any of the options in the poll so here are my reasons for participating on the CF…

Because I’m gravely concerned about my country and would like to bring to everyone’s attention certain things that I feel are important if we’re to make informed decisions.

More than anything I want to highlight the constant damage being done to Cyprus by her malicious neighbors Greece and Turkey, and wish for all my compatriots to awaken to this fact and unite as a single voice to confront and expel them.

As for Copperline, I enjoyed engaging in debates with you and always considered you as one of the more serious contributors who had plenty to share with us and many issues to raise so your absence will be strongly felt so thanks for your input.

However, if you must go then fare thee well…

Regards, GR.

The reasons for being on this forum are most of the time blurred. I joined for one reason and ended up staying for a different one although do not behave like it most of the time.

Forum members who have the "unattachment" to engage in a direct debate with you without any of the emotional dribble (leading you into the same) have always been a positive note on this forum. We need more like them to take the focus away from the usual record playing most of us play on this forum.

I found myself doing more work and research for posts in responding to the likes of copper than anyone else. A difference from the pre-packed, re-heated responses some other people would warrant.

DIsagreed with a lot of what you said Copper but liked having you around. Have a good one.

Are you out of your mind? If it were not for Greece the RoC would now be a southern turkish province called kibristan. Greece expended no end of political capital holding out on agreeing to the customs union with turkey until EU ascension negotiations were opened with the RoC, and again threatened to block the ascension of the other 9 countries that joined the EU in 2004. And let us not forget the billions in defense spending over the years that would not have been spent had Greece considered it unnecessary to present a credible deterrent to the turks (trust me, there would be no Aegean dispute if it were not for the Cyprus problem). Greece is the best friend that the RoC has.
