Sorry GR , just adding a few sentences my self.
Greece orchestrated the disastrous coup against the legally elected government of Cyprus in 1974 , all by it self no Americans , no British but the Greek junta which for the preceding few years was actively engaged in anti Makarios actions , ie its refusal to abide by the request of the Cypriot government to have its officers removed from Cyprus.
She , the Greek Junta , alone gave Turkey the green light to invade , she then proceed to take that well needed " mono ligo kero xaposteni" , bad luck for Cyprus the invasion came during a break for a well ...deserved rest.
Yes , I hold Greece exclusively responsible for enticing Turkey into the arena and then having had a ..rest , just withered away !!

I will miss your intellect and knowledge. You cite the bile and bigotry as reasons for leaving. They should be reasons to stay and push against those knee jerk responses. But it is your decision.

I join the Cyprus problem section because firstly and foremost I want to see a united Cyprus where all Cypriots regardless of their linguistic or other cultural backgrounds live in harmony. I like the debates and I enjoy the challenges.

I thought that I'd give notice that, after a little over two years, I'm leaving the Forum.

People have different reasons for participating in a Forum. My main interest was to learn and contribute to discussion of the 'Cyprus problem'. To some extent that has happened.

But I've been overwhelmed and appalled by the bilious hatred and racism that has dominated the forum recently. It was always there, peddled by a handful of some deeply disturbed and poisonous individuals, but it seems to have plumbed the depths of late. So long as the basic racist attitudes of hatred and contempt rules the knee-jerk responses of too many forum posters Cyprus will remain screwed.

I wish the best to denizaksulu, DT, insan, Jerry, umit07, shahmaran, billcobbett, kikapu, timdrayton, nikitas, even militiades and get real : you have an unenviable task of removing the poisonous bile from this fishbowl of the Cyprus problem.


PS I used as my signature Galileo Galilei's words - "I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn't learn something from him" Strictly speaking that maxim has held true in this forum; although loosen one of those terms ... and the maxim fails.

Sorry to see you go CopperLine. You have added very valuable information on the forum which at times brought much opposing views to counter your position on the subject matter being discussed, which in the end, we all got to see that there really is
"more than one way to skin a cat".!

I agree with Nikitas that you would serve much better being on the forum than off the forum to deal with the hate mongers who do their best in not finding a solution to the Cyprus Problems. I hope you would reconsider.

If you remember a while back I asked you to stay and you did.....Well I am asking again...I will apologise for for being one of the people who might have spewed out some of the rhetoric that you found offensive, but I have to say that I had no intention of going there. I won't attempt an explanation but say that we have all let off a bit of steam at times. You have done nothing here but explain the problems of Cyprus and have been very leveling in your points. I joined the forum to have my views be heard and listen to other views.
I left because I had nothing else to say…

Your contribution was valueable and I still remember very clearly some of your good thought provoking arguments on legal matters.

I believe there is a false misconception among GCs and TCs of what the people of the "other side" really are. By joining this forum I think I got that cleared up for myself, and I am really glad I met some remarkably brilliant people from the "other side" in here.

I hope you also got something valueable for yourself from your participation in here.
